4a - Splinters
Splinters may appear on robinia wood. From our
production all posts are sanded, however as this is a
natural wood, splinters might reappear over time. These
should be removed as part of the maintenance routine.
4b - Cracks and openings
Crack along the line of the posts are to be expected to a
certain degree, depending on changes in humidity and
temperature.
Minor cracks do not affect the strength of the wood and
will not require any action. In the event that they are
above the allowed limit described in EN1176 or other
local requlations, it must be repaired or replaced by a new
post.
4c - Knots
Knots occur as a natural part of robinia wood, this is
where the branches have been attached to the timber
while it has been growing. During the production all posts
are checked and damaged knots repaired with filler.
