Insulation resistance measurement

Procedure
Analog earth & insulation tester
2 – check the earth voltage
set the rotary switch to EARTH VOLTAGE.
start the measurement by pressing the TEST key.
the earth voltage will then be indicated on the ACV scale of the galvanometer.
Attention:
If the measured earth voltage is greater than 10 VAC, the earth electrode
resistance measurement will undoubtedly be erroneous.
3 – measure the resistance of the earth electrode
set the rotary switch to EARTH RESISTANCE
select the probable measurement range on the range selector (item 4).
start the test by pressing the test button and read the result on the display unit.
to make a long-term measurement, press and turn the test button.
the FUNCTION indicator must be lit, proof that the measurement current circuit
is correctly established.
The result obtained is a value in excess of the resistance of the earth
electrode.
It is the sum of the resistance of the measurement leads, the resistance of the
earth electrode measured and the resistance of the auxiliary rod.
IMPORTANT: INSULATION MEASUREMENTS SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT
WITH THE INSTALLATION OR CIRCUIT DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS
SUPPLY
1 – DISCONNECT the installation from the mains power supply
2 – connect the test cables to the circuit or conductor to be tested
on an electrical installation, the EARTH input will be connected to the installation
earth and the LINE input will be connected to the interconnected active conductors.
to measure the insulation between 2 conductors, connect each of the inputs to a
conductor
to measure the insulation of a cable, connect the EARTH input to the braid and
the LINE input to the core of the cable...
