(6) Attaching the antifreeze cable
Place the frost protection cable on the pipe and secure it with high-quality
PVC insulation at a distance of 600 mm.
(7) Insulating the pipe/antifreeze cable
We recommend installing the pipe insulation over the antifreeze cable to
ensure additional protection in extremely cold weather conditions and thus
minimise costs and energy consumption. The pipe/antifreeze cable can be
insulated with mineral wool or soft foam insulation. The thermostat should
be insulated similarly to the pipe/antifreeze cable to ensure that the same
temperature is maintained at all sections of the pipe. If the thermostat is
insulated more than the rest of the pipe, it will take longer than necessary for
the thermostat to turn on the antifreeze cable. The thermostat turns on the
antifreeze cable when the detected temperature reaches approximately 6°C
and turns it off again at 13°C.)
Note the following when using mineral wool insulation materials: The
mineral wool insulation can be damaged by moisture and must therefore
be wrapped around the insulation with a waterproof cover to prevent
moisture from penetrating. The foam insulation is usually not negatively
affected by moisture, so a waterproof cover is not required.
(8) Marking of the frost protection cables
The presence of the 230-volt heating cables must be marked
at regular intervals along the insulated water pipe and at the
socket (Schuko socket) with high-voltage warning labels (see
illustration). The connection of the heating cables must be
marked in the fuse box. The frost protection cable used must
also be marked in the circuit diagrams.
(9) Plugging in the mains plug
Plug the mains plug into a suitable socket at the beginning of the cold season/
winter months. Refer to the „Operation" section for more information.
