Instal Installation Instructions
Spears ® ® 1/4 T 1/4 Turn Angle Supply Stop Valves are molded in tan CPVC and are provided with either female A l S
SRFIPT threaded end connector or socket end connector for solvent cement applications. All outlets are
1/2" MIPT and the threaded inlet version will accept metal or plastic threaded end connectors. All applicable
instructions & procedures should be read thoroughly before starting. Suitability of the intended service should
be determined prior to installation. Plastic piping systems should be engineered, installed, operated and
maintained in accordance with acceptable standards and procedures ned in accordance wi
ONE-STEP SOLVENT CEMENT CONNECTION
For best results, installation must be made at temperatures between 40°F
(5°C) and 110°F (43°C). All joining components must be clean and dry.

Use only cement conforming to ASTM Standard F493 and D2846 for
CTS CPVC pipe and fi ttings. One-step cements can be used without
primer where permitted by code. Check local codes.
Be sure pipe is cut square.
Apply Cement to Socket.
Hold 30 sec Hold 30 seconds for initial set..

Stop valves may be mounted in
any position.
CAUTION: System must be depressurized
and drained prior to installation or repairs
.
Apply Cement to pipe end.
Bevel with beveling tool.
Install immediately, using 1/4 turn twist.
Wipe off excess cement.
THREADED CONNECTIONS
Threaded connections require application of a quality grade thread sealant to seal the joint assembly.
WARNING: SOME PIPE JOINT COMPOUNDS OR PTFE PASTES MAY CONTAIN SUB-
STANCES THAT COULD CAUSE STRESS CRACKING TO PLASTIC. TRANSITIONS TO
METAL PIPE REQUIRE THOROUGH CLEANING AND DEGREASING TO REMOVE ANY
PIPE THREAD CUTTING OILS.

thread sea thread sealant that has been tested for compatibility with Spears

Assemble Joint Hand Tight
Finish tightening with
fl at-faced wrench
Do not use pipe wrenches Flats
on the valve. Apply wrench make-
up no more than one to two
turns beyond hand tight. Care
must be taken in fi nal positioning
so as to avoid the need to "back-
up" the wrenched assembly.
