Assembly Instructions

NOTICE
– To reduce the risk of product damage:
• Do not plug in until instructed.
• Never operate the unit until the shipping cable tie has been removed from the mechanism.
1. Choose a location for the lift chair that is close to an electrical outlet.
2. Carefully remove the chair from the carton and remove packaging materials. Lay the chair back aside.
3. Remove the red electrical components bag from the body bracket and unpack the contents; packed
inside are the power supply and 120-volt power cord (F
4. Gently tip the chair body forward to rest on the front arms. Cut and remove the cable tie securing
the mechanism assembly (F 2). Return chair body to its upright position.

5. Lay the back across the chair arms with the back cushion facing the seat, and turn the outside back
cover over, toward the front of the chair (F
WARNING
– To reduce the risk of injury:
• Do not operate the unit until the back is installed and locked.
6. Install the back.
Note the location of the fastening tape sewn to the back cover; the mating fastening tape is
•
on the bottom side of the rear rail (F

With the back across the chair arms, lift the back at a slight angle and align the brackets on
•
the back with the brackets on the body (F
Rotate and lower the back onto the body. Push down firmly on the top of the back to fully engage
•
and lock both sets of brackets. An audible "snap" or "click" is heard from each side of the chair
when the brackets are engaged and locked.
Lift the back upholstery cover and visually confirm that the back and body brackets are
•
engaged on both sides (F 4). Then, using both hands, lift up on the chair back to ensure

that it is locked in place. If one or both sides lift, the brackets are not fully engaged and
locked. Remove the back and repeat the steps above. Refer to the last bullet for instructions
on how to unlock a back bracket.
If you are unable to install the back properly, contact your La-Z-Boy
•
• To Remove the Back: Unplug the 120-volt power cord from the electrical outlet and disconnect
the power supply from the motor connector (if connected). Loosen the fastening tape securing
the outside back upholstery cover to the lower rear rail (if attached). Lift the back cover to
locate the back brackets and locking tabs, one on each side (F
away from the brackets, toward the inside of the unit and lift up on the back to remove it
from the body.
Never attempt to install or remove the back when the power supply is plugged into an electrical
outlet or connected to the chair. Make sure the power supply is unplugged and disconnected from
the chair before assembling or disassembling the chair.
