1. Remove bottom bracket attachment – Using 10 mm socket, remove (1) bolt from the bottom bracket attachment, per side. Using flathead screwdriver, remove (3)
rivets from bottom bracket attachment. Press the bracket inwardly to release the piece from the plastic tab attached to frame rails. Return the bracket attachment
and hardware to vehicle owner.
2. Lower vehicle exhaust – Using the exhaust removal pliers, lower exhaust by removing (4) rubber hangers, (2) on each end of muffler. Note: Be sure that exhaust is
supported before removing rubber hangers. A spray lubricant or soapy water on rubber hangers make them slide off metal pins more easily.
3. Enlarge vehicle frame access holes – Peel off the sticker on the access hole if present. Using die grinder, enlarge the access hole to 1'' diameter hole each side, see Figure 1.
4. Install hitch – Feed the carriage bolt ① and spacer ② through the access hole using the pull wires ⑤. Leave pull wires attached. Raise the hitch and feed pull wire
previously installed through hitch bracket slot. Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washer ③ and hex nut ④ to hitch.
5. Tighten all 7/16'' fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Ft.-Lb. (68 N*M).
6. Reinstall the exhaust.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which
has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety
specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
