5. Mounting accessories

Always remove the plug from the mains prior to assembly. To loosen
the collet, first press the shaft lock button. Rotate the shaft by hand until
the lock engages the shaft preventing further rotation (see fig. 1). Do not
operate the collet lock button while the device is still rotating.

6. Operation
Switch on the device by engaging the ON/OFF switch. Be careful not to cover the air vents with your hand when
holding the tool. This blocks the air flow and causes the motor to overheat. Only put the device down when the
engine has stopped completely. Always wear safety goggles when using this device.

7. Extension Cords

If an extension cord is necessary, use a cord with adequate gauge to prevent excessive voltage drop, loss of power
or overheating. The table shows the correct size to use, depending on the cord length and nameplate amperage of
the tool. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. Always use UL and CSA listed extension cords.

8. Maintenance
Disconnect the device from the mains prior to maintenance activities.
The brushes and commutator are designed to function for a long time
with a minimum of maintenance. To maintain peak efficiency of the
motor, we recommend examining the brushes every 3 months.
Remove the brush caps one at a time with a small screwdriver by
rotating the cap in a counter-clockwise direction. Check both brushes.
If the brush is less than 1/8" long and the end surface that contacts
the commutator is rough and/or pitted, it should be replaced. Replace
both brushes at the same time.
Make sure to install the brushes as illustrated. The curved surface of
the brush must match the curvature of the commutator.
After replacing the brushes, place the device on a clear surface and run it at no-load for 5 minutes. This will allow the
brushes to seat properly and will extend the device's life.
