Coat Thickness Gauge

Operating instructions:
For measurements on all metallic substrates
For each measurement the letters "Fe" (iron/steel) or "NFe" (non ferrous metal) are automatically displayed
depending on the substrate.
Operation:
Automatic switching on when the probe gets in contact with the material. If the device is not used, it switches
off after 30 sec.
The device automatically selects the measuring range. No switching-over between Fe and NFe required.
The device must have direct contact to the surface and be held steadily. When the measuring data are
recorded the display is illuminated and a signal sounds.
Zeroing:
Press the key "+" for 2 seconds. "000" flashes on the LCD display. Then the uncoated part is measured.
The zeroing offers highest accuracy for measurements of the coat thickness.
Units:
Press the key "+" in order to switch-over from μm to mils and vice versa.
Saving:
The device automatically saves the last 10 measured values.
After pressing the key "MEM", it is possible to display the last 10 measured values by pressing the keys "+"
and "–".
Rotating LCD display:
Press the key "-"( ) in order to rotate the display by 180°.
Reference films:
It is possible to perform a rapid calibration/functional control by means of the calibration films and the two
metal discs (Fe / NFe).
Calibrating by means of the control films:
Measure one of the films included in the delivery in order to calibrate the device.
If the display shows deviations from the film value modify the value by pressing the key „MEM" (>2sec.) and
then press the keys "+" and "-" in order to obtain the value of the film.
Then confirm by pressing the key "MEM".
Please observe the measurement tolerance of the film.
Battery change:
Insert a new alkaline battery (AAA) if the value " " is continuously displayed.

Devices made by the company Förch are subject to a strict quality control. However, if any errors in
function occur during the daily practice we grant a warrantee of 60 months (only applicable if the invoice
is presented). Any manufacturing defects or material defects are repaired free of charge if the device is
returned to us without any damages caused by foreign effects. Any damages caused by dropping or incorrect
handling are excluded from the warrantee claim. If any functional defects occur after expiry of the warrantee
our after-sales service will repair your device immediately.
