AUTOMATIC OPTICAL LEVEL
PLACEMENT
- Place the tripod on a solid surface.
- Tighten the base plate over the tripod.
- Centre the circular bubble of the instrument using the three
setting screws.
When using a tripod with a hemispherical head, before tightening
the big screw it's better to roughly centre the circular level.
To perform the centering of the bubble (9) simultaneously rotate
two setting screws (2) and then turn the third screw.
Turn the instrument by 180° and check the levelling. Bubble has
to be at centre. If not, it must be adjusted till the bubble stay at
the centre when the instrument is turned to any direction.
LEVELLING (HEIGHT MEASUREMENT)
In order to determine the different height between two staffs po-
sitioned at points A and B:
- place the instrument
- point the optical device to the first staff,
- turn the screw to focus it (5) adjusting the eyepiece (7) till the
staff graduation is clearly visible.
- With small movements turn the knob (3) to improve the poin-
ting in respect of the vertical line of the reticule.
- Make reading L1 on the central horizontal line of the reticule
6
and read the millimetre on the staff centimetre scale.
- Point the optical device to the second staff, focus it and make
the reading L2.
The different height between the two points is equal to the diffe-
rence between the two readings: D = L1 - L2.
The best results are obtained when the distance between the
instrument and the staff is about 50 m.
DISTANCE MEASUREMENT
To measure the distance using the reticule and the vertical staff:
- place the instrument
- through the eyepiece, read on the staff (in cm) the range
between the two lines visible in the reticule
- multiply this value by the constant 100
the result (in m) is the distance value (eg: 32 cm on the staff
means a distance of 32m).
HORIZONTAL ANGLE MEASUREMENT
Collimate a vertical object aligning it to the vertical line of the
grating range marker.
Reset the circle, turn the instrument and collimate a second object
The resulting angle is the azimuth between the two objects.
The graduated circle is divided in 360°.
AXES CONTROL
To control the orthogonality between the optical axis with the
