OFF-AXIS PRINCIPLE
In principle, all Mac Audio speaker systems are linearly attuned. Strictly speaking,
however, this linearity is only guaranteed on the emission axis. The further this reference
axis deviates from the actual control axis, the more the directivity pattern of the
individual speaker becomes noticeable through the sound intensity decreasing towards
high frequencies.
The mounting positions in the vehicle often make it impossible for the components to
be installed on a common surface, which means that the control axes of the tweeters
and mid-woofers are different. This results in a principle-related level loss in the transfer
frequency range between the mid-woofer and the tweeter.
To compensate for this effect, the "Off-axis" option has been integrated into the
crossovers of the Maximus series. However, whether this switching is activated or not
is left entirely up to you – to be decided by your own personal taste.
ADDITIONAL HIGH-PASS FILTER
The crossover in the Maximus series has a high-pass filter which can be connected in
series for the entire system. The corresponding switching keeps the low-bass range
information away from your component system, thus increasing the power input
possible. This option is particularly recommended in combination with a subwoofer.
TWEETER PROTECTION POLYSWITCH
There is a protective element integrated into the crossover of your Maximus tweeter,
which has high impedance in cases of overload and reduces the current flowing through
the tweeter. If the tweeter is deactivated, please turn down the volume and wait for a
moment. After cooling down, the tweeter will re-activate and is ready for operation again.
