Field of application
The zero gravity balancers of type 7241 0000 81...87
are used for relieving – i.e. equalizing – the weight of
hand-held tools (such as welding tongs, drilling jigs and
micrometers, slaughterhouse equipment, etc.). As a
special feature, this type of balancer has an additional
handle for locking the cable drum manually.
The manual drum lock should never be used for
load replacement!
General information
The weight-balancing retraction force remains almost
constant across the entire extension length of the
cable. The load range of the balancers differs from one
model to another. For range details, see nameplate (1).

Additional safety notices
•
Unhook the load only when the cable is fully
retracted.
•
Never use the manual drum lock for load
replacement.
•
Before releasing the drum lock, be sure to hook
the load first.
Manual drum lock
The drum lock (10) blocks the cable drum.
To lock the drum, push the handle (11) fully down on
the "red" side.
To release the drum, push the handle (11) fully down
on the "green" side.
If the drum lock has been used for cable replacement,
it is extremely important to release the drum only after
attaching the load. If the load is not in place, the cable
will snap back as soon as the drum is unlocked! This
can be extremely dangerous as it may not only cause
severe injuries but destroy the main spring as well.

Replacing the cable
Pull out the cable as far as it goes (limit stop). Press
the locking device of the extension limit stop (i.e.
unblock the cable extension mechanism), then pull out
the cable fully (the cable coupling is now visible in the
lower part of the housing's opening).
Lock the drum with the manual drum lock (for
procedure, see Manual drum lock section). Unhook the
working load, then push the cable back into the
housing to detach it (using a screwdriver if necessary).
Insert a new cable through the mouth of the housing
and anchor it on the drum. Be sure to install the cable
correctly: it must engage noticeably with the guide
groove.
An incorrectly anchored cable may slip out under
load. This may cause severe injuries as well as
other damage as the load crashes down!
Hook the load, then unlock the cable drum (see Manual
drum lock section).
Only the original, German-language version is
legally binding. Subject to change without prior
notice.
