Storing batteries
When not in use for a month or more, batteries should be stored
correctly to prolong their life. The way you prepare your battery for
storage, depends on the battery chemistry.
Li-ion batteries
Remove the battery from the radio before storage.
Fully charge the battery if storing for less than one month.
Charge the battery to about 30% if storing for longer than one
month.
Store in a cool dry place.
NiMH batteries
Remove the battery from the radio before storage.
Store the battery (in either a charged or discharged state) in a
cool dry place.
Using batteries after storage
Batteries that have been stored for any length of time must be
charged before being used. See "Charging the battery".
When first using NiMH batteries that have been in storage for three
months or more, you may notice that they do not last an entire shift.
This is normal. If stored properly, the battery's optimal capacity
should be restored after two or three shifts (charge/discharge
cycles).

Disposing of batteries

Run the battery flat before disposing of it. When disposing of the
battery, be sure to do so in an environmentally sensitive manner.
Please contact your radio provider for information about recycling
programs in your area. See "Environmental responsibilities" for more
information.
