MACDRPL01
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of injury, do not attempt to use this product
until you have read thoroughly and understand completely this
operator's manual and the operator's manual for any power tools
used. Always wear gloves and eye protection with side shields
marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Ensure compatibility and fit
before using this accessory. Do not use this accessory if a part is
damaged or missing.
WARNING:
Do not allow any moisture or water inside the battery enclosure.
Waste water is corrosive and can cause battery damage, smoke/
fire, serious personal injury, and/or property damage. If fluid
entered the battery enclosure, immediately discontinue use of
the battery pack. Go to ryobitools.com for important safety
instructions or refer to the battery manual for handling and/or
disposing of battery packs that have been exposed to corrosive
and conductive liquids.
INSTALLING THE DRILL ATTACHMENT
See Figures 1 - 2.
The drill plumber accessory can be installed onto any drill with a 3/8
in. or larger chuck.
Lock the switch trigger on your drill in the OFF position, and either
remove the battery pack or unplug the power source.
Open or close the chuck jaws until the opening is slightly larger
than the drill attachment's shaft.
Raise the front of the drill slightly, and insert the drill attachment's
shaft.
WARNING:
Make sure to insert the shaft straight into the chuck jaws. Do not
insert the shaft into the chuck jaws at an angle, then tighten. This
could cause the drill attachment to be thrown from the drill, re-
sulting in possible serious personal injury or damage to the chuck.
Close and tighten the chuck jaws completely. Make sure that the
jaws are contacting the flats of the shaft.

WARNING:
Do not hold the chuck sleeve with one hand and use the power of
the drill to tighten the chuck jaws on the attachment. The chuck
sleeve could slip in your hand, or your hand could slip and come in
contact with the rotating bit. This could cause an accident resulting
in serious personal injury.
To remove the drill attachment, lock the switch trigger in the OFF
position and open the chuck jaws.
CLEARING OBSTRUCTIONS
See Figures 3 - 4.
The drill plumber accessory can be used to clear obstructions from
a variety of drains including sinks and bathtubs.
When removing an obstruction from a sink or a bathtub, in some
but not all cases, it may be neccesary to remove the stopper or
overflow cover to gain access to the drain pipe.
Hold the drill by insulated gripping surfaces.
Move the drill attachment within four inches of the drain or overflow,
insert the cleaning line, then manually feed the cable into the drain pipe.
NOTE: Advance the cable slowly at first. Advancing it too rapidly
can result in twisting or binding.

The cable and cleaning line should advance freely through the
drain pipe until they contact the obstruction or they are caught in
a P-trap.
If the cable and cleaning line are caught in a P-trap, additional force
should be enough to advance them past the bend in the pipe.
If the cable and cleaning line have contacted an obstruction, do
the following:
•
Set your drill's direction of rotation to forward. Squeeze and
hold the switch trigger for several seconds to allow the hook
on the cleaning line to bore into the obstruction. Release the
switch trigger then slowly retract the cable and pull the ob-
struction through the drain.
NOTE: To prevent the cable from slowing or stopping, move the
drill slightly forward and back during trigger squeeze. If the cable
begins to slow, run the drill in reverse for a few seconds and then
run it in forward again. If the cable stops rotating completely, release
the switch trigger to avoid kinking or damaging cable.
NOTE: When removing the cable from a drain, remove it slowly to
avoid "splash back".
Once the obstruction is cleared, run water through your drain to
confirm that the water is flowing freely.
When finished, clean the cable, disconnect the drill attachment,
and store for later use.
