INSTALLATION OF IS-905 OR IS-908
IN-WALL SPEAKERS
Refer to the instruction sheet for mounting the corresponding
rough-in frames to the speaker and mounting the speaker
assembly into the wall. The cardboard template provided has
perforated slots. Gently cut along the perforated slots to remove the
inner part which can be used for masking the speaker as described
below. Use the outer card as template to drill hole in the wall. The
speakers can be painted to blend with a wall. The speaker's outer
surfaces are primed to accept ordinary latex wall paint or aerosol spray
paint. Because the surface behind the perforated grille should remain
black, mask this area before painting. Remove the speaker grille
carefully. Attach loops of masking tape to the cardboard masking
portion of the template and press them over the woofer and the
tweeter. Carefully paint the outer speaker frame grille.
Speaker Connections
Install one pair of wires (NuTone IW-2) from a Music Distribution
speaker (Model IS-903, IS-905 or IS-908) to the NuTone Radio
Intercom master station. Observe proper polarity as shown in Figure 1
to receive Monophonic speech and music.
Refer to Figure 2. NuTone Model IC-901WH Indoor Mono
Volume Control can be used with each speaker if desired.
CAUTION: IC901WH is a Mono volume control and should be used
only with a NuTone Radio Intercom System. Do not use this volume
control with any other audio amplifier since it may burn out.
In a stereo application, install one pair of wires (NuTone IW-2) from
each channel of the amplifier to each speaker as shown in Figure 3.

TESTING THE SYSTEM

1) Turn on the stereo/mono system with VOLUME CONTROL
turned down & BALANCE CONTROL in the center position. Turn down
BASS and TREBLE CONTROLS.
2) Activate a music source such as RADIO, TAPE, or CD PLAYER.
3. Gently turn up the volume. Music should be heard through your
speakers.
4) In a stereo system turning the BALANCE CONTROL to the left or
right should cause sound to come from the left or right speaker. If not,
you will have to check connections after switching off the amplifier.
5) Set BASS and TREBLE CONTROLS to the desired level.

GENERAL INFORMATION

•Do not keep the volume control and tone controls, especially the
Bass control, in the maximum position simultaneously to avoid
distortion in music or speech.
•In some applications when using the Music Distribution speakers
with a 4 ohm or 8 ohm stereo amplifier, you may have to increase the
amplifier volume slightly more than what would be needed if a 4 ohm or
8 ohm speaker were used to get the same loudness. How much more
depends on the type of room where the music speakers are installed
and personal taste of the user.
