• Position the laser so unintentional eye contact will be avoided.
• Do not operate the laser tape measure around children or allow children to operate the laser
tape measure.
• Do not disassemble. Modifying the product in any way can increase the risk of laser
radiation.
WARNING: Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those
specified in this manual may result in hazardous laser radiation exposure.
• Do not operate in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases, or dust.
• Use only with the specifically designated LR44 battery. Use of any other battery may create
a risk of fire.
• Store idle product out of reach of children and other untrained persons. Lasers are
dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

with the positive (+) flat side facing up. See figure 1.
3. Close the battery door making sure that it "clicks"
closed.
WARNING: The batteries used in this device may
present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. To
reduce this risk:
• Do not recharge, disassemble, incinerate or
expose to high temperatures.• Replace batteries
with model LR44 only. Use of another battery may
present a risk of fire or explosion. • Dispose of used battery promptly per local codes. •
Keep away from children. • Do not disassemble or short terminals. • Do not mix old and
new batteries. Replace all of them at the same time with new batteries of the same
brand and type.
• Remove batteries if the device will not be used for several months.
Transporting batteries can possibly cause fires if the battery terminals inadvertently come in
contact with conductive materials such as keys, coins, hand tools and the like. The US
Department of Transportation Hazardous Material Regulations (HMR) actually prohibit
transporting batteries in commerce or on airplanes (i.e. packed in suitcases and carryon
luggage) UNLESS they are properly protected from short circuits. So when transporting
individual batteries, make sure that the battery terminals are protected and well insulated
from materials that could contact them and cause a short circuit.

Operation
WARNING: Always use proper eye protection.
To turn the laser on, push the laser on/off switch
(A) forward to the (I) position. To turn the laser off,
push back on the switch to the (0) position. The
laser can be positioned on either side of the tape
measure. To rotate 180 degrees, turn the laser as
shown in figure 3.
EXTENDING AND RETRACTING THE TAPE
To extend the tape (G), pull it out to the desired
length.
To retract the tape, push in on the tape release

button (B). The speed that the tape is retracted
can be controlled by releasing the button and
then pressing it in again.
CAUTION: To prevent injury avoid "full
speed" blade return.
USING THE TAPE AND LASER TOGETHER
1.) Extend the measuring tape and position the
unit on the edge of the item that you will be
measuring.
2.) Extend the the "leg" as shown in figure 4 and
hold it firmly against the edge of the work
surface.
.
3.) Turn the laser on (figure 5). With the laser line
projected across the measuring tape, adjust the
tape to the distance that you require.
4.) Mark the surface along the laser line with a
pencil.
5.) When making a measurement to the rear of
the tape housing, add 4" (102mm) as shown in
Figure 6.
CALIBRATION
The BDTM250 Laser Tape Measure is calibrated
at the manufacturing plant. However, if the unit is
dropped or receives a hard blow it may need to
be recalibrated. Should you find that the laser line
needs to be adjusted, follow the steps below:
1.) Lay a carpenter's square on your work
surface with the short side of the square along
the edge of your work surface.
2.) Extend the tape out about 12 inches. Extend
the 'leg' and hold it firmly against the short side of
the square.
3.) Turn the laser on making sure the laser line
will be projected in the same direction as the
square that is on your workpiece.
4.) Turn the calibration screw shown in figure 7.
( Clockwise adjusts the line toward the rear of the
unit. Counter-clockwise adjusts the line toward
the front of the unit.) Align the laser line with the
straight edge of the square.
