Trouble Shooting Tips:
• Salt bridge solution – The solution in the
catheter must be highly ionic to conduct the
electrical impulse. Do not use dextrose in water
since it is non-ionic.
• Flush fluids – Discontinue all flush fluids to
minimize the risk of electrical deflection.
• Grounding – Ensure good skin connection with
ECG electrodes to optimize ECG tracing.
• Internal catheter movement – Movement of
chest during respiration or movement of heart
during contraction can cause catheter to move
and produce an undulating trace. Repositioning
chest leads may alleviate problem.
