These instructions explain how to correctly use your equipment. Only certain techniques and
uses are described.
The warning symbols inform you of some potential dangers related to the use of your
equipment, but it is impossible to describe them all. Check Petzl.com for updates and
additional information.
You are responsible for heeding each warning and using your equipment correctly. Any misuse
of this equipment will create additional dangers. Contact Petzl if you have any doubts or
difficulty understanding these instructions.
1. Field of application
Adjustable positioning device for aid climbing.
Warning: the EVOLV ADJUST positioning device is not PPE. It is neither an adjustable lanyard
(EN 358 standard), nor an energy absorber for self-belayed progression on a via ferrata (EN
958 standard), nor a lanyard for work at height (EN 354 standard).
Be sure to use a belay system made up of personal protective equipment (PPE) when engaged
in activities at height.
This product must not be pushed beyond its limits, nor be used for any purpose other than
that for which it is designed.
Responsibility
WARNING
Activities involving the use of this equipment are inherently dangerous.
You are responsible for your own actions, decisions and safety.
Before using this equipment, you must:
- Read and understand all Instructions for Use.
- Get specific training in its proper use.
- Become acquainted with its capabilities and limitations.

This product must only be used by competent and responsible persons, or those placed under
the direct and visual control of a competent and responsible person.

2. Nomenclature

3. Inspection, points to verify
Your safety is related to the integrity of your equipment.
Petzl recommends a detailed inspection by a competent person at least once every 12 months
(depending on current regulations in your country, and your conditions of usage). Follow the
procedures described at Petzl.com. Record the results on your PPE inspection form: type,
model, manufacturer contact info, serial number or individual number, dates: manufacture,
purchase, first use, next periodic inspection; problems, comments, inspector's name and
signature.
Before each use
Verify that the rope adjuster has no marks, deformation, wear, corrosion...
Check the safety stitching and look carefully for any loose or cut threads.
During each use
It is important to regularly monitor the condition of the product and its connections to the other
equipment in the system. Make sure that all pieces of equipment in the system are correctly
positioned with respect to each other.
4. Compatibility
Verify that this product is compatible with the other elements of the system in your application
(compatible = good functional interaction).
Equipment used with your EVOLV ADJUST must meet current standards in your country (e.g.
EN 12275 carabiners).
The SPIRIT, SPIRIT SL, Sm'D or Sm'D RL carabiner is recommended for use with the
rope adjusters. VERTIGO, Am'D and ATTACHE have also been tested and are compatible.
For usage with any other connector, carry out a compatibility test (correct installation and
functioning, and check for any possibility of poor positioning).
5. Preparation
Install a connector in each rope adjuster. Verify that the connector is correctly installed in the
rope adjuster (see drawing). Install the positioning rings on the connectors to help prevent
incorrect positioning. Install the positioning ring to help improve connector positioning.
Installation on the harness:
Make a girth hitch on the harness attachment point. Use only a girth hitch to connect the
EVOLV ADJUST to the harness.
6. Working principle
Lengthening an adjustable arm: tilt the rope adjuster to allow the rope to run.
Shortening an adjustable arm: pull on the reserve rope.
Positioning: adjust the length of the adjustable arm to keep it taut.
7. Precautions for use
Do not fall on your EVOLV ADJUST.
To function, the rope adjuster must be able to rotate freely in the connector. Verify that the rope
adjuster is correctly positioned in the connector when you connect to the anchor.
WARNING: any other equipment attached to the same connector as the rope adjuster (for
example your footloop) can cause the rope adjuster to malfunction. Beware of the reserve rope
that can drag, get caught and unbalance the user.
8. Additional information
When to retire your equipment:
WARNING: an exceptional event can lead you to retire a product after only one use, depending
on the type and intensity of usage and the environment of usage (harsh environments, marine
environment, sharp edges, extreme temperatures, chemicals...).
A product must be retired when:
- It is over 10 years old and made of plastic or textiles.
- It has been subjected to a major fall (or load).
- It fails to pass inspection. You have any doubt as to its reliability.
- You do not know its full usage history.
- When it becomes obsolete due to changes in legislation, standards, technique or
incompatibility with other equipment...
Destroy these products to prevent further use.

1. Champ d'application

3. Contrôle, points à vérifier
Votre sécurité est liée à l'intégrité de votre équipement.
Petzl conseille une vérification approfondie, par une personne compétente, au minimum tous
les 12 mois (en fonction de la réglementation en vigueur dans votre pays et de vos conditions
d'utilisation). Respectez les modes opératoires décrits sur le site Petzl.com. Enregistrez les
résultats sur la fiche de vie de votre EPI : type, modèle, coordonnées du fabricant, numéro de
série ou numéro individuel, dates : fabrication, achat, première utilisation, prochains examens
périodiques, défauts, remarques, nom et signature du contrôleur.
Avant toute utilisation
Vérifiez sur le bloqueur l'absence de déformations, marques, usure, corrosion...
Vérifiez les coutures de sécurité : attention aux fils coupés, distendus.
Pendant l'utilisation
Il est important de contrôler régulièrement l'état du produit et de ses connexions avec les
autres équipements du système. Assurez-vous du bon positionnement des équipements les
uns par rapport aux autres.
4. Compatibilité
Vérifiez la compatibilité de ce produit avec les autres éléments du système dans votre
application (compatibilité = bonne interaction fonctionnelle).
Les éléments utilisés avec votre EVOLV ADJUST doivent être conformes aux normes en
vigueur dans votre pays (mousquetons EN 12275 par exemple).
L'utilisation du SPIRIT, SPIRIT SL, Sm'D ou Sm'D RL est préconisée avec les bloqueurs.
VERTIGO, Am'D et ATTACHE ont aussi été testés et sont compatibles. Pour l'utilisation de tout
autre connecteur, faites un test de compatibilité (mise en place et fonctionnement corrects et
étude des possibilités de mauvais positionnement).
5. Préparation
Installez un connecteur dans chaque bloqueur. Vérifiez le placement correct du connecteur
dans le bloqueur (voir dessin). Installez la bague de maintien pour améliorer le positionnement
des connecteurs.
Installation au harnais :
Réalisez une tête d'alouette sur le point d'attache du harnais. Seule la tête d'alouette doit être
utilisée pour relier l'EVOLV ADJUST au harnais.
6. Principe de fonctionnement
Agrandir le brin réglable : faites basculer le bloqueur pour permettre le défilement de corde.
Raccourcir le brin réglable : tirez sur la réserve de corde.
Positionnement : ajustez la longueur du brin réglable pour rester en tension.
7. Précautions d'utilisation
Ne chutez pas sur votre EVOLV ADJUST.
Pour fonctionner le bloqueur doit pouvoir pivoter librement dans le connecteur. Vérifiez le bon
placement du bloqueur dans le connecteur au moment de vous connecter à l'ancrage.
Attention, tout autre élément connecté dans le même connecteur que le bloqueur (par exemple
votre pédale) pourrait entraver son fonctionnement.
Attention à la réserve de corde qui peut traîner, se coincer et déséquilibrer l'utilisateur.
8. Informations complémentaires
Mise au rebut :
ATTENTION, un événement exceptionnel peut vous conduire à rebuter un produit après une
seule utilisation (type et intensité d'utilisation, environnement d'utilisation : milieux agressifs,
milieux marins, arêtes coupantes, températures extrêmes, produits chimiques...).
Un produit doit être rebuté quand :
- Il a plus de 10 ans et est composé de plastique ou de textile.
- Il a subi une chute importante (ou effort).
- Le résultat des vérifications du produit n'est pas satisfaisant. Vous avez un doute sur sa
fiabilité.
- Vous ne connaissez pas son historique complet d'utilisation.
- Quand son usage est obsolète (évolution législative, normative, technique ou incompatibilité
avec d'autres équipements...).
Détruisez ces produits pour éviter une future utilisation.

1. Bestimmungsgemäßer Gebrauch
Einstellbares Positionierungsmittel zum technischen Klettern.
Achtung: Das EVOLV ADJUST-Positionierungsmittel ist keine PSA. Es ist weder ein
einstellbares Verbindungsmittel (Norm EN 358) noch ein Falldämpfer zum Selbstsichern in
Klettersteigen (Norm EN 958) oder ein Verbindungsmittel für Höhenarbeiten (Norm EN 354).
Denken Sie daran, beim Klettern in der Höhe ein Sicherungssystem bestehend aus
persönlichen Schutzausrüstungen (PSA) zu verwenden.
Dieses Produkt darf nicht über seine Grenzen hinaus belastet werden. Es darf ausschließlich zu
dem Zweck verwendet werden, für den es entworfen wurde.

Aktivitäten, bei denen diese Ausrüstung zum Einsatz kommt, sind

3. Überprüfung, zu kontrollierende Punkte
Ihre Sicherheit hängt vom Zustand Ihrer Ausrüstung ab.
Petzl empfiehlt, mindestens alle 12 Monate (entsprechend den in Ihrem Land geltenden
Vorschriften und den Nutzungsbedingungen) eine eingehende Überprüfung durch
eine kompetente Person durchführen zu lassen. Bitte beachten Sie die auf Petzl.com
beschriebenen Vorgehensweisen. Tragen Sie die Ergebnisse in den Prüfbericht Ihrer PSA ein:
Typ, Modell, Kontaktinformation des Herstellers, Seriennummer oder individuelle Nummer,
Daten: Herstellung, Kauf, erste Anwendung, nächste regelmäßige Überprüfung, Probleme,
Bemerkungen, Name und Unterschrift des Prüfers.
Vor jedem Einsatz
Überprüfen Sie das Einstellsystem auf Deformierungen, Kratzer, Abnutzungs- und
Korrosionserscheinungen usw.
Kontrollieren Sie die Sicherheitsnähte: Achten Sie auf durchtrennte, lose Fäden.
Während des Gebrauchs
Es ist unerlässlich, den Zustand des Produkts und seiner Verbindungen mit anderen
Ausrüstungsgegenständen im System regelmäßig zu überprüfen. Stellen Sie stets sicher, dass
die einzelnen Ausrüstungsgegenstände im System richtig zueinander positioniert sind.
4. Kompatibilität
Überprüfen Sie die Kompatibilität dieses Produkts mit den anderen Elementen Ihres Systems
(Kompatibilität = funktionelles Zusammenspiel).
Die mit Ihrem EVOLV ADJUST verwendeten Ausrüstungselemente müssen mit den in Ihrem
Land geltenden Normen übereinstimmen (z.B. Karabiner EN 12275).
Für die Einstellvorrichtungen empfehlen wir den SPIRIT, den SPIRIT SL, den Sm'D oder den
Sm'D RL zu verwenden. VERTIGO, Am'D und ATTACHE wurden ebenfalls getestet und sind
kompatibel. Bei Verwendung anderer Karabiner führen Sie bitte einen Kompatibilitätstest durch
(korrekte Installation und Funktion, Prüfung des Risikos einer Falschpositionierung).
5. Vorbereitung
Hängen Sie in jede Einstellvorrichtung einen Karabiner ein. Achten Sie auf die richtige
Positionierung des Karabiners in der Einstellvorrichtung (siehe Abbildung). Installieren Sie den
Haltering, um die richtige Positionierung der Karabiner zu gewährleisten.
Installation am Gurt:
Befestigen Sie das Positionierungsmittel mit einem Ankerstich an der Sicherungsschlaufe des
Klettergurts. Nur der Ankerstich ist zum Verbinden des EVOLV ADJUST-Positionierungsmittels
mit dem Klettergurt geeignet.
6. Bedienung
Verlängern des einstellbaren Strangs: Kippen Sie die Einstellvorrichtung, damit das Seil
durchrutschen kann.
Kürzen des einstellbaren Strangs: Ziehen Sie an der Seilreserve.
Positionierung: Stellen Sie die Länge des einstellbaren Strangs so ein, dass das
Positionierungsmittel gestrafft ist.
7. Vorsichtsmaßnahmen
Ein Sturz in das EVOLV ADJUST ist auszuschließen.
Um richtig zu funktionieren, muss sich die Einstellvorrichtung ungehindert im Karabiner drehen
können. Vergewissern Sie sich beim Einhängen in den Fixpunkt, dass die Einstellvorrichtung
richtig positioniert ist.
Achtung, wenn ein anderes Ausrüstungsteil (z.B. Ihre Trittschlinge) zusammen mit der
Einstellvorrichtung in einen Karabiner eingehängt ist, kann dieses die Funktion der
Einstellvorrichtung behindern.
Achten Sie darauf, dass sich die herunterhängende Seilreserve nicht verhakt, da dies den
Anwender aus dem Gleichgewicht bringen kann.
8. Zusätzliche Informationen
Aussondern von Ausrüstung:
ACHTUNG, außergewöhnliche Umstände können die Aussonderung eines Produkts
nach einer einmaligen Anwendung erforderlich machen (Art und Intensität der Benutzung,
Anwendungsbereich: aggressive Umgebungen, Meeresklima, scharfe Kanten, extreme
Temperaturen, Chemikalien usw.).
In folgenden Fällen muss ein Produkt ausgesondert werden:
- Wenn es mehr als 10 Jahre alt ist (Kunststoff- und Textilprodukte)
- Nach einem schweren Sturz (oder Belastung).
- Das Überprüfungsergebnis ist nicht zufriedenstellend, das Produkt fällt bei der Überprüfung
durch. Sie bezweifeln seine Zuverlässigkeit.
- Die vollständige Gebrauchsgeschichte ist nicht bekannt.
- Das Produkt ist veraltet (Änderung der gesetzlichen Bestimmungen, der Normen und der
technischen Vorschriften, Inkompatibilität mit anderen Ausrüstungsgegenständen usw.).
Zerstören und entsorgen Sie diese Produkte, um ihren weiteren Gebrauch zu verhindern.
