Bump cap
ENG
USE OF THE BUMP CAP:
This Bump Cap does not provide protection against the effects of falling or thrown objects,
or moving suspended loads. It should not be used, instead of an industrial safety helmet as
specified in EN 397. The bump cap is made to absorb the energy of a blow by partial destruction
or damage to the shell and the harness, if fitted, and even though such damage may not be
readily apparent, any bump cap subjected to impact should be replaced. The attention of users is
also drawn to the danger of modifying or removing any of the original component parts of the
bump cap, other than as recommended by the bump cap manufacturer. Bump caps should not be
adapted for the purpose of fitting attachments in any way not recommended by the bump cap
manufacturer. Accessories and/or replacement cap covers and bump cap mounted lamps are
available with fitting instructions from the manufacturer. Do not apply paint, solvents, adhesives or
self-adhesive labels, except in accordance with instructions from the bump cap manufacturer.
FITTING AND ADJUSTMENT:
For adequate protection this bump cap must be worn with the peak facing forward and be
adjusted to the size of the user's head. Place the cap on the head so that it sits down on to the
top of the head, tilted back so that the peak does not obstruct forward vision. To alter the fit,
adjust the fastening at the rear of the bump cap and ensure a comfortable fit is made around the
crown of the head.
INSPECTION AND CARE OF THE BUMP CAP:
The bump cap's useful life is affected by many factors including the cold, heat, chemicals,
sunlight and misuse. The bump cap should be examined daily for obvious signs of cracking,
brittleness or damage. The date of manufacture is marked on each bump cap. While the bump
cap is free from defects it is suitable for it's intended purpose. Under normal circumstances the
bump cap should offer adequate protection for 5 years. The bump cap should be cleaned /
disinfected by wiping with a cloth moistened with a weak mild detergent solution, the cap should
then be allowed to air dry. No strong or abrasive chemicals should be used. If the bump cap can
not be cleaned by this method it should be replaced. When not in use or during transportation the
bump cap should be stored in a container such that it is out of direct sunlight and not in contact
with any chemicals, liquids or sharp objects and will not become deformed by objects dropping
on to it. It is not necessary to put the cap in a bag.
WARNINGS:
When worn correctly the BumpCap will restrict upward vision, wearing the cap tilted too far back
will significantly reduce the level of protection available. As required by European Health and
Safety requirements, the user is advised that when the bump is in contact with the user's skin, it
may cause allergic reactions to susceptible individuals. If this is the case the wearer should leave
the hazardarea, remove the bump cap and seek doctor's advice. None of the materials used in
the manufacture of this bump cap are known to adversely affect wearer hygiene or health.
