Supplementary documentation
Make sure that the operating manuals
for the charger and the power pack
supplied with the device are available.
Please read and understand them be-
fore using the device.
Power pack charging
Risk of injuries or material damage
¾ Only charge the power pack using the
charger approved by the manufacturer.
The designations of the approved char-
gers are listed in the enclosed CE Decla-
ration of Conformity.
Attention!
The power pack is supplied partially charged. Be-
fore using the device for the first time, fully charge
the power pack to ensure effective performance.
Power pack charging must be carried out ac-

cording to the instructions in the supplementary
documentation.
Operating times
Observe the times stipulated in local byelaws.
Î
Check with your local authorities to determine if
Î
there are any operating time limitations.

Assembly

Risk of injuries.
ÂWhen using the tool, incorrectly fitted
parts can lead to severe injuries up to
and including death.
ÂThis tool can only be operated, if all parts
are fully fitted and tightened and there
are no damaged parts!
¾ Therefore first read the entire chapter,
before fitting the parts.
¾ Fit the parts carefully and completely.
¾ Use tools as specified.

¾ Parts may only be fitted and removed
when the motor is switched off and the
power pack removed.

Sharp cutting chain. Tool still running!
¾ Before carrying out any work on the tool,
remove the power pack.
¾ Wear safety gloves before any work on
the chain.
Risk of injuries.
ÂAn incorrectly fitted cutting chain will
result in erratic cutting behaviour of the
tool.
¾ Fit the chain so that it rotates in the indi-
cated direction of rotation.

Note
The cutting chain and cutting bar are pre-in-
stalled on some models.
Place the chainsaw on a level, stable surface.
Î
Flip up the lock tab [C] and turn the locking
Î
button [B] for blade adjustment anticlockwise to
remove the chain wheel cover [A] C .
Wearing protective gloves, pick up the chain [E]
Î
and wrap it around the cutting bar [D]. The saw
teeth must be pointing in the right direction D.
Make sure that the chain is correctly positioned in
the slot all the way around the cutting bar.
Fit the chain around the sprocket [A]. Align the
Î
slot on the cutting bar with the chain tensioning
bolt [B] and the stud bolt [C] on the bottom of the
tool D .
Check the position of the cutting bar and chain on
Î
the device D .
Reattach the sprocket cover once the cutting bar
Î
is in place.
Note
Make sure that the hole for the clamping bolt
(no tool required) on the cover is aligned
with the bolt [C] in the main casing.
Turn the locking button [B] for blade adjustment
Î
firmly clockwise C .
Then loosen it again by 1 – 1.5 turns so that the
Î
chain can be tensioned correctly.
Turn the chain tensioning knob [C] clockwise to
Î
increase the tension E . See section "Tensioning
the chain".
Note
Ensure that the chain is sitting securely
around the cutting bar.
Tighten the locking button [B] for blade adjust-
Î
ment securely so that the blade (cutting bar) is
securely seated C .
