QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

READ CAREFULLY THIS INSTRUCTION. YOUR SATISFACTION WITH THE SOLAR SYSTEM WILL DEPEND ON ITS PROPER INSTALLATION AND USE.
CAUTION:
a) This solar system can be installed on the roof of a nearby building. This installation is not, however, so easy as it may seem. Even though you are experienced
in working on roofs, have an appropriate ladder, safety aids and tools, you are strongly recommended to entrust a specialized firm employing trained and skilled
workers with the installation.
b) Perform the installation so that the installed solar heating unit not to facilitate access to the pool for children or pets. There is a risk of drowning!
How the solar panel works?
The pump of filtration system transports cold water from the pool into the solar panel. There the water is heated to a higher temperature and returns back to the pool. In this way solar energy is utilized for heating the pool,
almost at no cost. The employed materials will neither corrode, nor get fouled with scale.
When the solar panel operates well?
In the course of season the properly installed solar system can increase the temperature of pool water by as much as by 6 °C compared to the pools without a heating system. In cloudy and rainy weather the solar system will
work worse. However, one or two sunny days will suffice to return the water temperature back. The pool water temperature should not exceed 30 °C. Warm water has no refreshing effect and, moreover, creates favourable
conditions for the growth of algae. Moreover, certain pool components maybe subject to temperature limitations, for instance the foils of foil pools can get soft and loose firm shape. That is why the use of solar heating system
is not recommended in case the pool water temperature has risen close to 30 °C.
Where the panel should be situated?
Place the panel in a position ensuring adequate lighting thereof (6 hours a day at least). The longer the panel is exposed to direct sunlight the result of water heating is better. In case the panel is installed on a house roof,
orient it to face south or south-west. Its optimum incline should be within the range from 30 to 45 degrees for the period from May to September. For safety reasons do not install the panel closer to the pool than 1.5 m as
it could facilitate access to the pool for children or pets. Choose a safe panel position to protect it from mechanical damage, for instance by flying-off stones. In any case, the panel and its rack shall be firmly fixed to ground
in order the installation to be protected from any damage by wind gusts.
Do I require a special pump?
In case the pump of filtration is in good working order, the solar panel can be installed close to the filtration unit and the pool without any problem. As the resistance to flow caused by the filter is very low, the pump will not
be overloaded. However, in case that the panel is to be installed in a distance from the pool or at a higher level above the pool, a specialist should be consulted.
Are there additional parts required for installation?
For installation an adequate length of hoses or pipes should be required.
(only for 0.9m²) For any other way of installation than using a steel rack a specialist has to be consulted. That is why we recommend the system to be erected using a firm structure of PVC tubes.
Appropriate fittings and PVC adhesive should be provided for the purpose. Any use of PVC-U close to the heating system should be avoided, as this material is not recommended for temperatures in excess of 60 °C. The
temperature of certain heating system parts may be as high as 80 °C.
What about solar blankets?
The solar blanket will keep heat in the pool during nights, particularly at the beginning and the end of bathing season. In hot summer days the blanket should be removed from the pool, as direct sunshine will heat the
pool more thoroughly than through the blanket. The solar blanket may be used in combination with solar heating, as the blanket will keep heat in the pool during nights, while the solar heating system will do its work
during sunny days.
How the panel should be connected?
Connect the panel to the filtration unit outlet. There shall not be any flow resistance (valve, filter vessel, e.g.) between the filter and the return nozzle, which would increase the pressure in the panel. The maximum operating
pressure should not exceed 2 bars (0.2 MPa), as any higher pressure could cause damage to the panel. The recommended panel connection is shown on the title page hereof.
What is the purpose of manually operated bypass?
The solar heating system operates only if sunlit. In the night the ambient temperature is usually lower, which would cause the reverse effect and the water temperature would decrease. The manual bypass (not a part of
supply) makes it possible to put the solar panel out of the circuit for the time, at which external conditions are unsuitable for its operation , e.g. for the time of filtering in the night.

BASIC PROCEDURE OF INSTALLATION
Select a suitable area close to the pool (as mentioned herein before). The principle of solar heating installation using hoses clearly follows from
the figure shown on the first page hereof.
1) Put the solar heating system on the chosen place.
2) Assembly the panel. Screw the thread nipples (2.9) onto the panel tubes, using silicone O-rings (2.8). Install the hose fitting adaptors onto
the nipples (FIG. 1) and plugs (FIG. 2). For one tube one plug and one nipple should be used.
3) (only for 0.9m²) Install the panel on the rack (to the relevant instruction).
4) Switch the filtration off and disconnect its supply cable from the mains socket.
5) Blind or otherwise secure the inflow and outflow lines to prevent water from leaking from the filtration or the pool. Remove the outflow
hose from the filtration unit.
6) Connect the hoses according to the diagram shown on the first page hereof. Connect the manual bypass (if available) as close to the filter
unit as possible and install it in the line connecting the heating panel system inlet and outlet as shown on the said diagram.
7) Check and tighten the hose clips.
8) Remove the blinds put on under point 5 so that the filtration is passable.
It is recommended the panel should be installed on a rack providing sufficient support. The use of the rack offered with the solar heating
panel (see the figure at the end hereof) is preferred. In case an individual way of installation is chosen, a specialist should be consulted.
NOW THE SOLAR SYSTEM IS READY FOR OPERATION
Notes:
• In the case the solar panel is installed either in the horizontal or vertical position, it will not ACHIEVE ITS FULL EFICIENCY as its exposition
to sunlight will not be optimum.
• If the panel is installed on the rack, a roof, etc., the hoses connecting it with the filter and the pool should be secured in order the weight of
water column not to put load on plastic fittings and the panel. Any excess load will put the panel or hoses at risk of damage.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

Start-Up
First check, please, whether the solar system is properly connected to the filter unit and to the pool.
1) Check all connections for tightness and strength. Bleed the filtration unit according to the relevant
instruction for use.
2) If the manual bypass is in use check, whether its valve setting allows water to pass through the panel.
3) Turn the pump on and check the installation for leaks.
4) Air bubbles will come out from the return nozzle immediately after the pump has been switched on. It is
quite common and indicates the solar panel system is being filled with water. As soon as air is expelled
from both the panel and the return line, the formation of bubbles will cease.
5) The solar heating unit can be connected in series with other solar heating units. Connecting hoses are not
included in the supplied package.
Operation
1) Leave the filtration unit and the solar heater in operation for all the time the panel is sunlit. The longer the
time, the more heat is transferred to the pool water.
2) In case the solar system, together with the filter unit, is left in operation at a low ambient temperature (in
the night, for instance), the temperature of water will decrease. If it is the case, open the manual bypass
valve to put the solar panel out of operation.
3) Taking account of the preceding paragraph the solar panel should be put out of operation overnight by
opening the manually operated bypass valve. It is also recommendable to cover the pool with a solar
blanket for that time to reduce unnecessary heat loss.
4) Do not use the solar panel, if the pool water temperature exceeds 30 °C. Such warm water will not have
any refreshing effect and, moreover, creates favourable conditions for the growth of algae. In addition,
there may be temperature limitations for certain pool components, for instance the foils of foil pools can
get soft and loose firm shape.
