4. Operation
Only operate outdoors or in well ventilated rooms, and away from all heat sources.
You must always satisfy yourself that all joins are tight and you must make sure that a
gas-tight connection exists before lighting the torch.
If there is a leak on your appliance (you smell gas), take it outside immediately into a well
ventilated frame free location where the leak may be detected and stopped. If you wish to
check for leaks on your appliance, do it outside. Don't try to detect leaks using a flame, use
soap water. To avert the risk of liquid gas escaping, always keep the propane butane
cartridge upright or at only until the burner is horizontal. If you use the device in another
position, gas may escape from the torch (long and very yellow flame). To restore normal
use, hold the device in a vertical position. Working with the soldering device pointing
downwards is not permitted.
Open the gas regulator a quarter of a turn (in the «+» direction) and light the gas stream
with a smallflame.
If you notice anything unusual during operation, turn the device off immediately.
During long periods of operation, it is normal for the lower part of the cartridge to cool
down.
Close the gas regulator (in the «-» direction) after using the device. Parts of the soldering
device may get very hot.
Danger: can cause burns.
5. Temperature Adjustment
The flame temperature can be changed by moving the ring:
Ring forward -> Lower temperature:
Flaming, burning off, melting.
Ring back -> High temperature:
soft soldering, brazing, hardening.
The soldering device can get very hot; only move the ring using protective gloves.
6. Maintenance
Regularly check the seal in the soldering device to make sure it is correctly positioned and
in perfect condition before connecting the container. If gas escape from between the device
and the cartridge replace the rubber sealing ring. Make sure that the bulgy side of the seal
is pointing downwards. Sealing rings can be obtained direct from KEMPER if required. Use
only original spare parts KEMPER.
In the event of faults, take the device to a specialist company authorized.
Store appliance in safe and dry place.
Always store cartridges vertically in a secure and dry room away from all heat sources. If
the soldering device is not used or transported for long periods, the cartridges must always
be unscrewed.
