TRUSS ROD ADJUSTMENT

Neck should always have a slightly concave shape. Turning the truss rod nut clockwise tightens
the truss rod and adjusts the excessive concavity. Turning the truss rod nut anticlockwise
loosens the truss rod and adjusts the excessive convexity.

In order to adjust truss rod, it is necessary to remove truss rod key from the guitar body. Truss
rod key should be fully inserted into one of the holes of the truss rod adjustment nut which is
located within spacing between 21 and 22 frets. Turning the truss rod key for tightening or
loosening the truss rod should be done in a smooth fashion, maximum by 45° from the initial
position of the truss rod nut at a time. Guitars of "UNIVERSUM GUITARS "ELENA" product
line are equipped with the inertia-free truss rod systems of double action due to which neck
curvature changes simultaneously with turning of the truss rod nut. Adjustment should be
carried out until the required neck curvature is achieved.
IMPORTANT: truss rod is considered as correctly adjusted when there has been achieved such
neck curvature at which the distance from the 3 rd (or 4 th ) string to the upper point of the 7 th fret
at its simultaneous pressing on the 1 st and 15 th frets is 0.2.....0.4mm (depending on the string
gauge).
IMPORTANT: GUITAR MANUFACTURER recommends that you should turn to the service
center to carry out truss rod adjustment.
