- Ensure that the connection is air-tight. To do this, spray a soapy solution or a leak detection spray
onto the connection between the cartridge valve (10a) and the appliance valve (2). If bubbles
appear, the device is leaking.
- If gas escapes from the system (smell of gas or formation of bubbles during the leakage test), take
the system outdoors immediately to a well-ventilated location away from sources of ignition where
the leak can be safely detected and repaired. Take the device outdoors before checking for leaks.
Never check for leaks using a flame; always use a soapy solution or a leak detection spray! Keep
the appliance under observation until the gas has escaped from it fully.
The device is now assembled.
OPERATION / USE
Proceed as follows to light the appliance and adjust the flame:
- Place the appliance outdoors on a flat, level and stable surface, well away from any inflammable
materials. Pay special attention to the safety instructions above.
- Turn the control knob (4) anticlockwise to the setting "pilot flame / Piezo ignition"
fully down. Hold it and wait a few seconds in order to allow the gas to reach the pipe outlet.
- Release the control knob (4) and push it down again, if required several times, until you see the pilot
flame burning. Then hold the button for approx. 10 more seconds.
- Turn the control knob (4) to the highest setting.
- The heater is now operating.
- After approx. 5 minutes, the heater reaches its full performance. Now you can turn the control knob
(4) towards the lower setting, if desired.
- To switch off the appliance, turn the control knob (4) clockwise towards OFF position ("0").
In unfavourable conditions (e.g. very cold outside temperatures, iced gas
cartridge), the heater might automatically switch off before the cartridge is fully
empty. This is normal and due to the physical properties and natural pressure of
the liquefied gas.
In this case, connect a new cartridge as described below. You can use the
remaining gas of the first cartridge once the temperature got higher again.
FUNCTION OF THE SAFETY DEVICES
FLAME SUPERVISION DEVICE & OXYGEN DEPLETION SENSOR
The gas supply is automatically cut off in following cases:
- when the flame extinguishes during use, e.g. because the gas canister is (almost) empty, and
- when the oxygen content in the surrounding athmosphere gets below a certain level.
Before attempting to re-ignite the heater, locate and cure the reason of the automatic cut-off.
TILT SWITCH
The gas supply is cut off if the item is not in a vertical position, e.g. when it falls over.
