WATER FILL: BASIC INSTALLATION
FIGURE 5
Close Air Inlet and Coolant Refill valves. Connect shop air to the airline fitting.
Exhaust hose should be directed into a bucket to catch any residual coolant.
Open Air Inlet Valve. Watch Vacuum Gauge. When vacuum stabilizes (24-27"
Hg) close Air Inlet Valve. Vehicle Hoses normally collapse during this process.
Evacuation will take about 3 minutes or less.
The Cooling System should hold a steady vacuum reading for 30 to 60 seconds.
If vacuum drops off a leak is indicated and must be repaired before refilling
with coolant.
Place the screened end of the Refill Hose into a supply of coolant that exceeds
the capacity of the Vehicle Coolant System. The supply of coolant should be
higher than the coolant system opening (see Fig. 5).
The Refill Hose must be purged. Slowly open the Coolant Refill Valve so that
the coolant fills the Refill Hose. Close the Coolant Refill Valve. This process will
cause a drop in vacuum.
Open Air Inlet valve to re-establish the maximum vacuum level in the Cooling
system. Close the Air Inlet Valve.
Open Coolant Refill Valve slowly. The vehicle coolant system is full when the
vacuum gauge reads zero. Close Coolant Refill Valve.
