AIR SUPPLY
Tools of this class operate on a wide range of air pressures. It is
recommended that air pressure of these tools measures 90 PSI at
the tool while the tool is running freely. Higher pressure and unclean
air will shorten tool life because of faster wear and may create a
hazardous condition.
Water in the air line will cause damage to the tool. Drain the air tank
daily. Clean the air inlet filter screen on at least a weekly schedule. The
recommended hook-up procedure can be viewed in Figure 1.
The air inlet used for connecting air supply has standard 1/4" NPT
American Thread. Line pressure should be increased to compensate for
unusually long air hoses (over 25 feet). Minimum hose diameter should
be 3/8" I.D. and fittings should have the same inside dimensions.
OPERATION
Warning! Always disconnect air supply and wear eye protection before
performing any maintenance or adjustments on the sander. Failure to
do so could lead to injury or death.
Before operating this sander, it is important to ensure that the sanding
pad is secure. To do this, disconnect the air supply, hold the stop
spanner on the gear shaft and turn the pad clockwise until tight.
Make sure dead handle is installed on appropriate side of sander and is
firmly attached for positive grip while operating tool. The dead handle
can be installed on either side of the sander by unscrewing it from its
current side and installing it in the threaded hole on the other side of
the sander.
To change sanding discs, remove the retaining nut on the face of
the sanding pad by turning it in a counter-clockwise direction while
holding the stop spanner on the gear shaft. Retaining nut may have
tightened somewhat during operation of the tool. Remove old abrasive
disc, place new abrasive disc on face of sanding pad, and reinstall
retaining nut. Again, tightly secure retaining nut and sanding pad
before operating tool.
The normal weight of the sander is sufficient for efficient sanding.
Do not put excessive pressure on the machine because it will only
slow down the speed of the pad, reduce sanding efficiency and put
an additional burden on the motor and sanding pad. Use a heavier
grade of abrasive disc to speed up work. Start the sander off of the
work, make contact with the work evenly and move the sander back
and forth in wide, overlapping areas. Always lift the sander from work
before stopping the motor.
WARRANTY
Silver Eagle™ by Matco warrants its air tools for a period of 1 year
to the consumer. We will repair any SE Series air tool covered under
this warranty which proves to be defective in material or workmanship
during the warranty period. In order to have your tool repaired, return
the tool to any Silver Eagle™ Authorized Warranty Center, freight
prepaid. Please include a copy of your proof of purchase and a brief
description of the problem. The tool will be inspected and if any part or
parts are found to be defective in material or workmanship, the tool will

LUBRICATION
Lubricate the air motor daily with quality air tool oil. If no air line oiler
is used, run a teaspoon of air tool oil through the tool by squirting oil
into the tool's air inlet or into the nearest connection to the air inlet,
reconnecting air supply, and then running tool. Do not use more than
1/2 ounce of oil, as overfilling will reduce the performance of the tool.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Changes in air supply pressure or quality may cause loss of power
or erratic action. Reduced compressor output, excessive drain on the
air line, moisture or restrictions in air pipes, or the use of improperly
sized air hoses or connections (or hoses and connections in poor
condition) may reduce air pressure.
Grit or gum deposits in the tool may cut power and may be corrected
by cleaning the air strainer and flushing out the tool with gum solvent
oil or an equal mixture of SAE 10 oil and kerosene as detailed in
the LUBRICATION section. If air supply is functioning properly and
cleaning or lubricating tool does not correct performance problems,
disconnect tool from air supply and contact the nearest Silver
Eagle™ authorized service center.
This warranty gives you specific rights. You may also have other rights
which vary from state to state.
The foregoing obligation is Matco's sole liability under this or any
implied warranty and under no circumstances shall Matco be liable for
any incidental or consequential damages.
Note: Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental
or consequential damages so the above limitation or exclusion may
not apply to you.
