EN: Installation Sheet

Introduction
The NXG-868 wireless receiver adds wireless capabilities to
the xGen series control panels.
The number of sensors/FOBs maintained with the NXG-868
depends on the type of a panel used. Also the number of NXG-
868 receivers connected to the system depends on the panel
type. Refer to the "xGen Installation & Programming Manual"
for more details.
The maximum recommended data bus length is 800 m when
one or more NXG-868 wireless receivers are connected.
The wireless receiver can be powered from the xGen control
panel data bus.
Basic system description
The xGen control panel collects the data from the wireless
device on the data bus.
The NXG-868 receives the RF signal from the wireless
devices, such as fobs, PIR sensors, or smoke detectors.
The wireless communication between the wireless sensors and
the NXG- 868 receiver is fully supervised. A wireless sensor
sends a supervisory signal every 18 minutes. A wireless
smoke sensor sends a supervision signal every 63 minutes.
For more details of the supervision functionality, refer to the
xGen installer system timing menu.
Anti-masking of sensors is not supported by this device.

Caution:
When installing the NXG-868, it is important to
minimize any electromagnetic interference from the
environment the NXG-868 expander is installed in. Ensure that
the NXG-868 expander is a minimum of one meter away from
mains power lines (Figure 3, item 1), metal cabinets (Figure 3,
item 2) or any large metallic objects, and any source of
electromagnetic interference such as door bell transformers
and fuse boards. Avoid excessive metal or electrical wiring, for
example, furnace and utility rooms. Avoid areas where the
NXG-868 may be exposed to moisture.

Pry-off tamper mounting location
1.
Remove power from the xGen control panel before
installation.
2.
Remove the NXG-868 plastic cover.
3.
Hold the base of the NXG-868 against the mounting
surface and mark the two mounting holes.
4.
Drill holes and insert screw anchors, if required.
5.
Secure the unit to the mounting surface with the screws
provided. If mounted near metal, give the antenna as
much clearance as possible.
Connecting the NXG-868
See Figure 1.
Connect the four bus cable wires to the terminal strip:
POS to POS
NEG to COM 0V
LAN+ to D+ Data
LAN− to D− Data
Note:
The TERM jumper (terminator) cannot be placed.
Therefore a 100 Ω EOL has to be placed on the LAN bus
between the D+ and D- for the last device on the bus.
Caution:
Make sure NXG-868 is earthed through the shielded
LAN cable by connecting the shield to the EARTH connector
on the NXG-868.
Wiring specifications
The NXG-868 can be located up to 800 m from the xGen
control panel using a Belden 8723 2 pair twisted shielded data
cable or exact equivalent.
Powering up the NXG-868
1.
Before powering up the panel and receiver module, verify
that all wiring at the panel and NXG-868 wireless receiver
is correct.
2.
Connect the panel backup battery and AC power.
