sources of light.
6. Processing requirements
a. Design
• Create the object (STL data set) with a commercial CAD software
intended for dental applications.
• During the design process, observe the required minimum wall
thicknesses for completed restorations.
Note: Ensure a minimum wall thickness of 2.5 mm for hollow print
models.
b. Compatible 3D printers
In principle, VarseoWax Model can be processed on 3D print systems
that use a wavelength of between 385 and 405 nm.

on our website
https://www.bego.com/3d-printing/compatibility-overview/
c. Nesting and preparation for printing
• STL file import
• Manual / automatic rotation and placement
• Optimal alignment: Position the print object horizontally on the
build platform
• Manual / automatic generation of support structures.
* This symbol is a commercial designation / registered trademark of a
company that is not part of the BEGO company group.
In order to ensure optimal processing, please read carefully the
information contained in the instructions for use for the nesting
software.
d. Tools, equipment and materials required for post-processing
• Stainless steel spatula
• Cleaning equipment (e.g. unheated ultrasonic bath)
• Cleaning solution (e.g. ethanol solution 96 % / isopropanol 99 %)
• Spray bottle for the cleaning solution
• Cutting disc or side cutters (to remove the support structure)
7. Processing
VarseoWax  Model is compatible and can be used together with the
3D print system components of different suppliers. These compatible
system components can be found on our website
https://www.bego.com/3d-printing/compatibility-overview/
Note: All processing methods listed in these instructions for use serve
as an example.
Printing
Follow the instructions in the operating manual for the 3D printer
when preparing for the printing process. The ideal working temper-
ature for VarseoWax Model is in the range between 18°C and 28°C.
Before use, the resin must have a homogeneous consistency. Before
first use, shake the bottle well for approx. 2 min. When decanting,
make sure that the printing resin is exposed to daylight for as short
a period of time as possible. Mix the resin in the cartridge / resin tub
if a transparent layer is visible on the surface. During the printing
process, follow the operating instructions of the respective printer for
further processing – selecting the resin, material parameters, setting
up the print job.
Cleaning
Upon completion of printing, the print objects are released from the
build platform using a spatula. The print object should be cleaned
with ethanol (96 %) or isopropanol in a cleaning device (e.g. Formlabs
Form Wash), or using an ultrasonic bath.
Precautions: When using ultrasound devices, never pour the ethanol
(96 %) or isopropanol directly into the ultrasonic bath. Instead, always
place it in the recommended container inside the water-filled ultra-
sonic bath. Use an explosion-proof ultrasonic bath.
Please read carefully the information contained in the instructions for
use of the device manufacturer.
1. Clean the print object for 5 min in a reusable cleaning solution
using an unheated cleaning device (e.g. Formlabs Form Wash).
2. The print object is then removed from the cleaning bath and
sprayed with additional cleaning solution in order to fully rinse off
any resin residue.
Tip: The print objects are completely clean when no visible shiny
surfaces remain. Resin residue can be removed using a brush
soaked in the cleaning solution.
Precautions: The entire cleaning process should not take longer than
5 min, as this could otherwise have a detrimental effect (swelling) on
the printed objects.
After cleaning, the print object is dried using compressed air under
an extraction unit. If there is liquid resin still adhering to the surface
of the object, it can be completely removed by spraying again with
cleaning solution and renewed blow drying.
Preparation for post-curing
• Remove support structures. They can be removed using either a
cutting disc or side cutters.
• Carbide cutters or diamond grinding stones can be used to make
adjustments to the model.
Precautions: A dust mask must also be worn due to potential dust
formation while the printed objects are being trimmed / processed.
Post-curing process
The light-curing equipment BEGO Otoflash, HiLite Power* and Form
Cure* are recommended for post-curing of objects made from
VarseoWax Model, as they are optimally suited to the production pro-
cess.
The final material properties are achieved using a light polymerisa-
tion unit with the following performance data: two xenon stroboscopic
lamps, flash frequency 10 Hz, light spectrum 300-700 nm (e.g. BEGO
Otoflash) or one xenon stroboscopic lamp, flash frequency 20 Hz, light
spectrum 390-540 nm (e.g. HiLite Power*), or multidirectional LEDs
with a flash power 39 W / 9.1 W, light spectrum 405 nm (e.g. Form
Cure*).
Align / place the models in the equipment with the work surface facing
the light source.

Tips for further processing of printed and light-cured models made
from VarseoWax Model.
1. The models can be insulated to prevent plaster (e.g. Iso 8, BEGO),
plastic (e.g. 3D model insulation, Scheu*) and wax (e.g. Isocera,
BEGO) from adhering.
2. The models can be duplicated with silicone (e.g. Wirosil
duplicating gel (e.g. Castogel, BEGO; WiroGel
3. It is possible to produce deep drawing copings (Adapta) on stump
models.
4. It is possible to produce deep drawing splints on models as a one-
off application.
Note: Avoid overheating the foil when deep drawing plastic foils!
5. Repairing printed models made of VarseoWax  Model: The models
can be repaired with a quick-setting adhesive if a suitable fracture
surface for the repair is present.
Note: Refabrication is recommended for large-scale imperfections,
cracks or fractures.
In order to ensure optimal processing, please read carefully the in-
formation contained in the instructions for use of the different man-
ufacturers.
8. Cleaning in the dental laboratory
Models made from VarseoWax  Model can be easily cleaned. Steam
cleaning (e.g. with Triton SLA, BEGO) as well as subsequent cleaning
with alcohol are possible.
The model can also be cleaned under running water with a toothbrush
and soap.
Note: Boiling water (100°C) should not be poured over the model as
the model may lose its shape.
9. Disposal
The cured, separated material (base plate, support structure) cannot
be re-used. Cured material can be disposed of as domestic waste.
Unused resin or ethanol (96 %) used for cleaning or isopropanol
with resin residues must be disposed of via the local waste disposal
authority or an appropriate hazardous waste collection point, under
specification of the safety data sheet.
