1. DESCRIPTION
FOTO/9MSA3 is a double-beam photocell amplifier especially designed and constructed to ensure, when used in conjunction with
appropriate sensors, maximum safety for automatic accesses such as lift doors, burglar-proof double doors, automatic, overhead and
industrial doors, and so on. The device can be mounted by positioning the sensors either directly in the doorway or inside one or more
safety hips.
Built in compliance with European reference standards (Machinery Directive 89/392/EEC and Electromagnetic Compatibility 89/336/EEC), the
device incorporates "redundant electronics". The circuitry largely features double components and functions which means that the two specular
circuits are capable of operating simultaneously and in parallel thus ensuring correct and consistent operation of the amplifier and consequently
of the complete photocell. In fact, thanks to the circuitry redundancy, maximum safety is always guaranteed even in case of damage to the
electronic card, as required by Machinery Directive 89/392/EEC.
This special feature permits FOTO/9MSA3 to be used in conjunction with all types of control units, even those not featuring the self-
test function, thus guaranteeing the maximum safety of the final installation at all times, as required by applicable reference standards.
The amplifier is also available in a box (IP55) featuring appropriate fairleads for outdoor installation (model FOTO/9MSA3-ST).

4. WIRING AND START-UP
Before installing the FOTO/9MSA3 photocell amplifier, carefully read the "General Safety Precautions".
Install the box via the appropriate mounting holes.
Align the sensors (namely any of those cited in point 2 above).
Route the connection cables through the appropriate slots for the FOTO/9MSA3 or through the appropriate fairleads for the FOTO/9MSA3-
ST.
Connect the power and signal cables and check that the power jumper has been correctly positioned (CLOSED = 12Vac/dc, OPEN = 24
Vac/dc).
In case of only one beam (TX1 - RX1) being connected, make sure that the corresponding selector has been set to the correct position.
Power and check that the beam alignment LED comes on.
Press the "install check" button to reduce the intensity of the connected beams by 40%. During this operation, check that alignment LED
always stays on.
