The following allows you to place the grill in the Raclette setting.
• Raise the cover of the appliance until it remains upright without being held.
• Now pull the cover directly upwards until it will go no further.
• Then lift the lid slightly forwards and close the appliance again.
To use the appliance as a sandwich maker, fold the lid forward again in the reverse order.
When the appliance is completely folded open you can change the plates easily. To do this, pull the iron
lip on the front of the plate slightly towards you. Now you can lift the plate upwards a little. Then slide the
plate outwards towards the rear under the two brackets. Do the same with the plate on the opposite
side. First push the new plate under the two brackets. Then pull the iron lip towards you again and fas-
ten the plate in place.
Both grill plates have a drainage channel in one of the four corners. This allows the fat etc. to drain away
easily. When securing the plates, makes sure that the drainage channel is positioned on the outside of
the appliance. (and not where the hinges are). If you are using ingredients that produce a lot of grease
or fat, we advise placing a dish under the drainage channel.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Completely unroll the lead and insert the plug in the outlet. Place the appliance on a stable and heat-
resistant surface. The appliance can now be opened. Grease the plates lightly with cooking oil (only the
first time and after cleaning). Close the appliance and allow the plates to heat up by setting the temperature
regulator on the right side. The plates will have achieved the right temperature when the indicator light
goes out. Experiment a little with the temperature setting until you have found the ideal setting.
TO USE AS SANDWICH MAKER
Wait until the plates are at the right temperature. Place a slice of bread on the lower plate, then the fil-
ling, then another slice of bread. Now close the lid. The toasted sandwich will be ready after about 3
minutes. You should use a wooden or plastic spatula to remove the toasted sandwich in order to avoid
damage to the non-stick coating.
USING AS A RACLETTE
Use the raclette setting described above and then use the thermostat to allow the appliance to warm up
to the temperature required. Because the plates are now some distance apart, the appliance is ideal for
preparing traditional raclette dishes.
USE AS GRILL/ PANCAKE MAKER
In order to grill, heat the appliance while closed as it will heat much faster like this. When the plates are
heated, open the appliance. On top of the appliance there is a black plastic clip that you can push up.
Push it upwards before opening up the appliance. In this way, the clip can be used as a base for the
grill. This open grilling position is handy for use in the kitchen and is also very nice at the table!
Moreover, it is a healthy way to grill or fry because no oil or butter is required.
The cooking time and temperature setting will depend on the chosen dish or ingredients. You can, of
course, experiment with the cooking time and the temperature setting to get the best results.
Small pieces of meat, fish etc. will be cooked through faster than large pieces.
Turn meat and fish once only in order to prevent them from drying out. For the same reason it is better
to use a spatula than to prick with a fork.
Use a wooden or plastic spatula on the plate. Do not use metal implements as these could damage the
non-stick coating.
You can also grill while the appliance is closed. To do this, place the meat, fish or other ingredients on
the lowest plate before closing the appliance and clamping it shut.
