Cleaning the UVC clarifier and quartz glass, and replacing the UVC tubes
Disconnect the UVC clarifier from the power supply and secure it against being switched on again.
Please observe the above safety measures.
Allow the water to drain out of the unit completely.
Dismantle the pump base, which is fixed from below with a screw.
Press on the top and bottom of the filter cap (11) and pull it off the UVC clarifier.
Do not use solvents or cleaning agents of any kind to clean the filter and filter media. Only use pond
water.
Carefully clean the filter cap of the UVC clarifier and make sure that it is not clogged with leaves or dirt
deposits.
Remove the filter from the filter cap and clean it thoroughly too.
Remove the locking screw (12) on the bottom of the UVC cover.
Loosen the UVC cover by turning it slightly anti-clockwise (approx. 30°).
Dismantle the two screws (13) of the UVC cover and remove the quartz glass inside by pulling carefully.
Clean the quartz glass and the housing thoroughly with water and a soft cloth.
Use a suitable solvent to remove any limescale deposits on the quartz glass. Rinse out and wash off
thoroughly before installation.
Check the quartz glass for damage. A defective quartz glass must always be replaced.
Then, if necessary, remove the defective UVC tube by gently pulling on the base and replace it with a
new original replacement tube (see item 9 "Service").
Make sure that all parts of the UVC unit are dry.
Fit everything in reverse order.
Make sure that the O-rings are properly seated in the corresponding groove in the housing in the quartz
glass socket. Grease the O-rings with Vaseline if required. Push the quartz glass completely into the housing
of the lamp. Make sure that the nose of the quartz glass tube and the notch of the UVC cover are positioned
correctly. Check that the protective cap of the tube is fitted. Carefully push the lamp holder with the UVC
tube into the quartz glass.
Caution! Do not touch UVC tubes (10) directly with your hands; put on cotton gloves!
Do not dispose of old, broken UVC tubes in the household waste. Consult your local disposal company.
Do not use any sharp-edged tools. If the quartz glass piston or O-rings are faulty, they must always be
replaced.
Functional check of the UVC clarifier
You can check the function of the UVC tube by the bluish shimmer on the transparent intermediate ring of
the UVC clarifier (can be seen more easily with the filter cap removed). This check works best in low light.
If the UVC tube does not light up, the UVC clarifier may not have been assembled correctly. Check this using
the installation instructions above.
The UVC tube only lights up when the clarifier is completely assembled.

Cleaning the filter

Replace all filter mats (3) regularly (1x per season)
If you notice a deterioration in water quality, a decreased delivery rate or water escaping from the cover, take
the following steps:
1) The larger dirt particles collect on the bottom of the filter housing (2). These must be removed.
2) Mechanical sponge filter: Take the sponges out of the filter (3) and rinse them under running water.
Place the sponges back over the Bioballs (1) in the correct horizontal position.
3) Biological filter: The Bioballs (1) must be rinsed every time they exhibit heavy deposits.
Annual maintenance: Carry out a thorough cleaning of the filter at least once a year.
Empty the filter, remove all the dirt on the bottom and wash all the filter materials with water.
Winter - maintenance
Protect your external pond filter from freezing!
If there is danger of freezing, take the pump out of your garden pond.
Completely clean the pump as specified in the instructions.
Store the pump over winter in a frost-free location.
