Use
Putting on the positioning orthosis:
> First treat the surgical wound or foot injury
in the usual manner with appropriate band-
aging material.
> Select the appropriate length of the orthosis.
The patient's foot and lower leg length is the
determining factor for this.
Note
On the lower leg, it is important that
the orthosis does not extend too far towards
the back of the knee in order to avoid pressure
in this area when flexing the knee joint. It
should also be ensured that the head of the
fibula is exposed in order to avoid pressure
damage to the peroneal nerve. Do not wear
directly on open wounds or irritated skin.
> Position the foot in the orthosis. To do this,
the heel must be correctly positioned in the
heel recess. (photo 1)
> Place the wide strap around the calf area of
the orthosis and close it in a circle. (photo 2)

Ensure that the hook strap does not rest on
the skin.
> Place the narrow strap in a circle around the
patient's forefoot. (photo 3) The strap materi-
al adheres to the hook and loop straps of the
shell. (photo 4) Ensure that no hook strap
rests on the skin.
Alternative use:
> Secure the orthosis using a conventional
gauze bandage or cohesive bandage.
Integrated hook and loop straps on the
outer shell allow ideal adhesion of the gauze
bandage. Avoid winding too tightly.
> The bandage material should ideally be
approx. 10 cm wide. Begin winding the
bandage at the back of the foot and guide
the bandage in a distal (away from body)
to a proximal direction (towards body). In
doing so, check that the orthosis is correctly
positioned.
