Operating Instructions
Operation (Continued)
DRILLING
1. Locate and mark the desired drill
point with a center punch or an awl to
provide a seat for the drill bit tip.
2. Secure workpiece in a vise or clamp.
3. Place drill bit tip on the exact drill
point and start drill. Never apply a
spinning drill bit to workpiece. Apply
lubricant to drill bit when drilling metal
to reduce friction.
Forcing or applying
excessive force to
the drill can cause the bit to break.
4. Apply steady pressure while guiding
the drill. Withdraw drill several times
to clear cuttings when drilling deep
holes.
5. Reduce drill pressure before totally
cutting through workpiece to keep
chuck from causing damage. Pull drill
out of hole before releasing trigger.
Maintenance
Release
all pressure before attempting
to install, service, relocate or
perform any maintenance on the air
system. Personal injury and/or property
damage could occur.
DRILL CHUCK REPLACEMENT
1. Unlock chuck. Fully open the jaws of
the defective drill chuck by turning it
counter-clockwise.
2. Remove lock screw on the inside of
chuck with a 3 mm hex wrench.
NOTE: If lockscrew head is stripped
or too tight to remove, it can be drilled
out. Use a 5/16 inch drill bit in another
drill and drill head off screw. The chuck
cannot be removed unless lockscrew is
removed or head is drilled off.
6
3. Unscrew the drill chuck. Turn chuck
in a counterclockwise direction to
release it from the drill.
NOTE: If chuck is too tight or motor
spins with chuck, use an air powered
impact wrench to loosen the chuck.
Close the drill chuck jaws. Position
impact wrench on chuck. Make sure
the impact wrench is in the reverse
position and apply steady pressure while
attached to chuck. The chuck should
loosen and spin off.
4. Install new drill chuck. Turn clockwise
until hand tight.
5. Reinstall the 3 mm lock screw on
inside of chuck.
STORAGE
Lubricate air tool before storing. Follow
lubrication instructions in Pre-Operation
section with an exception to Step 4. Run
drill for only 2 to 3 seconds so more oil
will remain in air tool for storage.
