When using the DAP-5 you need to decide whether to use it as a standard AP or a Bridge
(Extender / Client). You can do this by changing the switch position on the back of the product.
Depending on how you wish to use you DAP-5, this section will help you decide which setting
works best with your setup.
AP mode
If you already have a wired or wireless router, and
want to add the extra 5GHz n or .GHz n
Router
wireless to your network, you will need to move the
switch on the back panel of the DAP-5 to "AP"
DAP-5
Wired PC
Bridge (Extender / Client) mode
NETWORK DVR
If you want to wirelessly connect
multiple Ethernet enabled devices
such as a game consoles, media
players, or network attached storage
GAME CONSOLE
devices you will need to move the

switch on the back panel to "Bridge"
NETWORK TV VIEWER
DIGITAL MEDIA PLAYER
Auto mode
If the switch on the back panel of the DAP-5 is se to "Auto", the device will look for 0 seconds
for an IP address for your router. If an IP address is found, it will automatically shift to AP mode. If an
IP address is not located, the DAP-5 will automatically default to Bridge mode.
Note. Because Auto mode will configure DAP-5 as a bridge mode automatically when setting up
the device for the first time. D-Link users Click'n Connect with CD please do not select Auto mode
– please use AP mode or Bridge.
