1. Remove existing 8mm inner tailpipe hanger bolts, both sides of vehicle. Loosen outer 8mm hanger bolts both sides of vehicle so that hangers can
slide side to side without coming off.
2. For CXmodels attach proper bolt-on bracket (as shown above left) loosely to hitch with hardware shown. Go to Step 5 and then insert Handle-Nut
through slot in bottom of vehicle suspension mount and align slot in bolt-on bracket with hole in mount and install 1/2" bolt and conical toothed
washer .
3. For CXL-FWD & CXS models bend supplied 3/8" Wire Hex Nut so that it can be inserted through large opening on forward side of vehicle cross-
member and align with hole in bottom of cross-member. Make sure nut lays flat on inside of cross-member hole so that bolt will thread easily into it
when hitch is raised into position. Go to Step 5 and then attach proper bolt-on bracket to hitch with hardware shown and insert 3/8" bolt and conical
toothed washer through bolt-on bracket into wire-nut inside of cross-member.
4. For CXL-AWD models only enlarge existing hole in bottom of vehicle cross-member with 1/2" drill. Install supplied 3/8" Nut Rivet by pushing
into drilled hole. Use bolt-on bracket, Lock Star Washer and Flat Washer to install Nut Rivet. Push bolt-on bracket against Star and Flat washer so
that it keeps Nut Rivet from turning in drilled hole as you tighten 3/8" bolt to 35 ft. lbs. to seat nut rivet in hole. WhenNut Rivet is tight, remove
bolt and remove Star and Flat washer. Go to Step 5 and then attach proper bolt-on bracket to hitch and insert 3/8" bolt and toothed washer into
nut rivet. Do not use Star and flat washer for final installation.
5. Raise hitch into position by rotating large holes in hitch over top of inner tailpipe hanger rubber isolators. Install supplied 8mm bolts through hitch
and through spacer washers as shown, then into vehicle weld nuts that you removed bolts from in Step 1. Do not tighten boltsyet.
6. Now torque all fasteners from previous steps to correct torque specs shown below.
Tighten 8mm-1.25 Gr. 9.8 bolts with torque wrench to 25 Lb.-Ft. (34 N*M) Tighten 3/8"-16 Gr. 5 bolts to 35Lb.-Ft. (47 N*M).
Tighten 1/2"-13 Gr.5 bolts with torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M) *Tighten 1/2"-13 Gr. 5 bolts into handle-nut to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M).
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holesin trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water
and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection.
Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
