Model 1012 ratcheting jack stands are de signed to be used in pairs to support a load
after it has been lifted by other means. This stand con sists of three basic elements; the base, the post and the load
locking/load release handle, which en gag es the teeth on the post for the pur pose of positioning.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Begin by setting parking brake on vehicle and blocking all
wheels. Make sure vehicle is raised to desired height and
is stable. Extend the post to height close to the support
member. Check the load locking and release handle to
insure that the dog portion has engaged a tooth on the
post. Make sure both jack stands are at an equal height
and will support the load equally when the lifting device
is removed. Place jack stands carefully under support
points specified by vehicle manufacturer. DO NOT CRAWL
UNDER VEHICLE WHEN PLACING OR REMOVING
STANDS! SLOWLY lower the load onto the jack stands and

SLOWLY lower the load onto the jack stands and
check to insure the load is located on the center portion
of the post saddle. Check the load for stability. If the load
is NOT located on the center of the post saddle, or if the
load is not stable, re-lift the load and reposition the jack
stands to insure proper loading before continuing with
work or repairs. NOTE: When using jack stands for body
shop work such as straightening of frame and/or body of
vehicle, use caster wheel type jack stand dollies to prevent
load from being pulled off jack stands. When removing
stands, care ful ly raise vehicle enough to clear the stands,
making sure the vehicle remains stable. Remove stands,
being careful not to crawl under vehicle while doing so.
Carefully lower vehicle to floor.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Remove both stands and ratcheting posts from box. Insert
posts into stands. Tighten 14mm locking nut on side of
collar securely. Lift release lever and lift ratcheting bar to
desired height. Check to make sure the dog engages each
tooth prop er ly on the ratcheting post.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Oil all release handle moving parts and be sure they
continue to work properly.
DO NOT OVERLOAD STAND. OVERLOADING CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO, OR FAILURE
OF, THE STAND.
PLACE LOAD IN THE CENTER OF THE SADDLE ONLY.
USE STANDS IN PAIRS, ON HARD, LEVEL SURFACES CAPABLE OF SUSTAINING
THE LOAD.
LOAD AND STANDS SHALL BE STABLE. USE ON OTHER THAN HARD, LEVEL
SURFACES MAY RESULT IN POSSIBLE LOSS OF LOAD.
INSPECT EACH STAND TO BE SURE IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION BEFORE USE.
NO ALTERATIONS TO THE STAND SHALL BE MADE.

INSPECTION
Visual inspection should be made before each use of
the stand. Any stand which appears to be damaged in
any way, found to be badly worn, or operates abnormally
MUST BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE. If the stand is
ac ci den tal ly sub ject ed to an abnormal load or shock, it
must be inspected by a manufacturer's authorized repair
facility immediately. It is rec om mend ed that an annual
in spec tion of the stand be made by a manufacturer's
au tho rized repair facility and that any de fec tive parts,
decals, or warning labels be replaced with man u fac tur er's
specified parts. All repairs must be made by a factory
authorized service center. A list of au tho rized repair
facilities is available from the man u fac tur er.
OWNER/USER RESPONSIBILITY
The owner and/or user must have a thorough
understanding of the man u fac tur er's operating instructions
and warnings be fore using the Vehicle Support Stands.
Personnel in volved in the use and operation of equipment
shall be careful, com pe tent, trained, and qualified in the
safe op er a tion of the equip ment and its proper use when
servicing motor vehicles and their components. Warning
in for ma tion should be em pha sized and un der stood. If
the operator is not fluent in English, the manufacturer's
in struc tions and warnings shall be read to and discussed
with the operator in the operator's native language by the
purchaser/owner, making sure that the operator
com pre hends its con tents.
Owner and/or user must study and maintain for future
reference the manufacturer's instructions and per ti nent
warn ing information. Owner and/or user is re spon si ble for
keeping all warning labels and instruction man u als legible
and intact. Replacement labels and literature are avail able
from the manufacturer.
USE SUPPORT POINTS SPECIFIED BY VEHICLE MANUFACTURER.
DO NOT CRAWL UNDER VEHICLE WHEN PLACING/REMOVING STANDS.
ENSURE BOTH STANDS ARE SET AT SAME HEIGHT AND HOLDING DOGS ARE
FULLY ENGAGED.
READ, STUDY & UNDERSTAND THE OPERATING MANUAL PACKED WITH THIS
STAND BEFORE USING STAND. FAILURE TO HEED THESE WARNINGS MAY RESULT
IN LOSS OF LOAD, DAMAGE TO STAND, AND/OR FAILURE RESULTING IN PROPERTY
DAMAGE, PERSONAL OR FATAL INJURY.
