Phase Sequence Testing
In three-phase electrical systems, the phases are separated by 120 degrees of phase shift. The
first phase is the reference phase; the second phase lags the first by 120 degrees; the third
lags the second by 120 degrees.

The phases are identified with at least three different conventions:
• L1, L2 and L3
• A, B and C
• R, S and T
The phase sequence function of the SVC-10 and SVC-20 can determine the phase relationship
between two AC voltages. To use this function, connect L1 and L2 to two of the phases, and
touch the contact electrode. Compare the result on the display with the Phase Sequence Table.
