Functional Description
The Model 9961A-C multiplexer/demultiplexer card combines the data from up to four Option Modules for
transmission via the High-Speed (HS) Aux Data ports available on many TKH Security USA optical transmitter
and receiver models. The RS422 Category 5 cable-compatible HS Aux Data Port on those cards supply a 15 or
16 mHz Transmit Clock signal to the 9961A-C. The eight data input channels are combined using TDM
techniques into a 15 or 16 mbps data stream that is clocked into the input on the HS Port synchronous with
the supplied clock. At the other end of the link, the HS Port outputs the received clock and data to its mating
Model 9961A-C via a short Cat-5 cable. The 9961A-C clocks in the high-speed data, recovers frame sync,
separates the four data channels, and routes them to the four Option Modules.
When a 9961A-C is connected to a SIMPLEX High-Speed Port, communications operate in only one direction
from the optical transmitter to the optical receiver.
When the 9961A-C is connected to a DUPLEX High-Speed Port, communications operate in both directions.
The Model 9961A-C is compatible with the earlier non-A revision 9961-C.

Note: The 9961A-C is required for support of Option Modules GM and GR. The early revision 9961-C does
support those two Option Modules.
Refer to the separate Option Module manual for details on Option Module operation.
The Model 9961A-C is a rack-mount, plug-in card that occupies a single slot in a Series 9000 card chassis. It
operates on 6VDC from the chassis power supply.
