5. Getting started
• Open the battery compartment on the back and insert two new batteries 1.5 V AAA, polarity as illustrated. Close the battery
compartment.
6. Use of the scale
• Place the scale on a flat solid surface.
• In order to switch on the scale, press the TARE ON/OFF button. A click is heard each time a button is pressed. The backlight
turns on and "0 g" (default) appears on the display.
• By pressing the UNIT button, the measuring unit can be changed.
• The sequence is shown as follows: g ➝ kg ➝ lb ➝ oz ➝ ml ➝ ml (milk) = automatic volume conversion for milk.
• As soon as "0" (for measuring unit "g") appears on the display you can start weighing.
• Place the item to be weighed in the centre of the weighing platform.
• Your measured weight will be displayed in g (default) or in the weighting unit you have set.
• To switch off the instrument, press and hold TARE ON/OFF button.
• If no button is pressed within 3 minutes, the scale switches off automatically.
6.1 Tare function
• If you are using a bowl for measuring, put the bowl on the platform first and then turn on the scale. If the scale is already in
use, press the TARE ON/OFF button to reset the display to "0".
• If you want to measure more than one ingredient in the same bowl, press the TARE ON/OFF button before you put the new
ingredient into the bowl. The display always goes back to "0" and you can continue the measuring process without pro-
blems.

• Change the batteries when "Lo" appears on the display (see "Getting started").

9. Waste disposal
This product and its packaging have been manufactured using high-grade materials and components which can be recycled
and reused. This reduces waste and protects the environment.
Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner using the collection systems that have been set up.
Disposal of the electrical device
Remove non-permanently installed batteries and rechargeable batteries from the device and dispose of them sepa-
rately.
This product is labelled in accordance with the EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE).
This product must not be disposed of in ordinary household waste. As a consumer, you are required to take end-
of-life devices to a designated collection point for the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment, in order to
ensure environmentally-compatible disposal. The return service is free of charge. Observe the current regulations
in place!
Disposal of the batteries
Never dispose of empty batteries and rechargeable batteries with ordinary household waste. They contain pollu-
tants which, if improperly disposed of, can harm the environment and human health. As a consumer, you are
required by law to take them to your retail store or to an appropriate collection site depending on national or local
regulations in order to protect the environment. The return service is free of charge.
The symbols for the contained heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead.
