PRECAUTIONS
• Never place the helmet or the ADF on hot surface.
• Replace scratched or damaged protection plates. Before using the new protection plate, make sure
to remove any additional protection film from both sides.
• Use
e R
welding helmet within the temperature range of 23°F to 131°F (-5°C to 55°C).
• Do not expose the auto-darkening filter to liquids and protect it from dirt.
• Use only original JACKSON SAFETY® R
authorized distributor.
• Failure to follow these instructions will invalidate the warranty. Surewerx does not accept respon-
sibility for any problems which may arise from applications other than welding, or if the instructions for
use are not strictly followed. The R
® welding helmet is manufactured to protect the welder's face
against spatters and hazardous ultraviolet and infrared rays emitted during the welding process. It is
not intended to be used as a protection against impact, flying particles, molten metals, corrosive liquids
or hazardous gases.
• Do not use for overhead welding where there is a falling molten metal hazard. This welding helmet/
filter system does not provide protection from molten metal and spatter during direct overhead welding.
• Materials which may come into contact with the wearer's skin could cause allergic reactions to
susceptible individuals.
• Welding helmet worn over standard ophthalmic spectacles may transmit impact, thus create a
hazard to the wearer
• If the symbols F, B and A are not common to both the ocular and the frame then it is the lower level which
shall be assigned to the complete eye-protector.
• The eye protector shall only be used against high speed particles at room temperature, not against high
speed particles at extremes of temperature.
• We recommend you to use the welding helmet for a period of 10 years. The duration of use de-
pends on various factors such as way of use, cleaning, storage and maintenance. Frequent inspec-
tions and replacement in case of damage are recommended.
• A distance of at least 20" (50cm), and never less than 10" (25cm), between the welding arc and the
welder eyes is recommended for all welding applications.
• SUREWERX USA INC operates a policy of continuous improvement. We therefore reserve the right
to make changes and improvements to any of our products without notice.
USAGE
An ADF built into a welding helmet protects the eyes, face, ears and neck against direct and indirect
hazardous light of the welding arc. In case that you have only bought a filter without the helmet, you
need to select the appropriate helmet designed to be used in combination with an auto-darkening
welding protection filter. It has to allow the filter, including the internal and external protection plates, to
be adequately mounted into the helmet. There should be no increased point
tensions caused by the fixing frame or mounting system, as they could cause severe damage to the
filter. Make sure that solar cells and photo- sensors are not covered by any part of the helmet, as this
could prevent the proper operation of the filter. If any of these conditions occur, the filter may not be
suitable for use.
