Sensor
The IR LD 1.0 continuously moni-
tors the sensor for the correct
feedback signal. If the sensor is
defective, the unit will not be
properly conditioned during the
warm-up cycle and will not return
a correct feedback signal.
If the sensor does not return a
correct feedback signal, a warn-
ing symbol will be displayed (see
Fig. 17), indicating that the unit
requires immediate service: Con-
tact Bosch Customer Service for
instructions on how to return a
unit for service.

Unstable operation is an
indication that the sensor may
require replacement.

Internal battery
The IR LD 1.0 uses a rechargeable
lithium-ion battery. The battery is
rated to last several years, if prop-
erly maintained.
CAUTION
LITHIUM ION RECHARGEABLE
BATTERY INSIDE
Do not open the leak detector housing to access the
internal battery. This battery is not user replaceable.

Maintenance
To help extend the life of the bat-
tery:
$
Maintain a 40–50% charge
during periods of non-use
greater than one month.
$
Store in an environment
with less than 75% relative
humidity (RH).
$
Only charge the IR LD 1.0
battery in ambient tem-
peratures of 0°C–45°C (32°
F–113° F).
$
Do not expose the battery
to temperatures above 60 °C
(140 °F)
$
Do not store the IR LD 1.0
with a fully charged battery
and/or at high temperatures;
doing so will significantly
reduce the life of the battery.
