POSITIONING OF THE UNIT
Keep the unit away from any hot surfaces and do not expose it to direct or excessive
sunlight or other weather conditions.
3.3. Working with the device
BEFORE FIRST USE:
Make sure the polarity is correct. If it is not correct, change it.
1. Place the tester away from a fence or other source of electrical charges.
2. Hold down the ON/OFF button [3] for 2 seconds. The display should read "0.0
kV".
3. Place the probe [1] on the uninsulated part of the electric wire in the fence.
The display will show the reading:
a) if the direction of the current [7] is opposite to the source of power, the
polarity [6] is correct;
b) if the direction of the current [7] is towards the source of power, change
the polarity:
• place the tester away from the fence or other source of electrical charges,
• hold down the ON/OFF button [3] for 10 seconds,
• polarity [6] changes from "kV-" to "kV +" or vice versa,
• take a measurement (points 1-3 above) to check whether the polarity is
correct
TAKING MEASUREMENT:
1. Place the tester away from a fence or other source of electrical charges.
2. Hold down the ON/OFF button [3] for 2 seconds. The display should read "0.0
kV".
3. When walking along the fence, place the probe on an uninsulated part of the
wire. Take measurements at the same distance and at each connection point.
4. If the readings do not differ significantly, the circuit is functioning properly. If
the voltage drops drastically at a given point, there is an error in the circuit.
