Safety instructions
Before using the helmet, please read the user instructions. Check that the front cover
lens has been correctly fi tted. You must not continue welding if the welding fi lter is
non-functional.
Precautionary measures & safety restrictions
Heat and radiation released during arc-welding can cause eye injuries and skin
burns. This product provides protection for the eyes and face. Your eyes are always
protected against ultraviolet and infrared radiation when you wear this helmet
regardless of the shade level. Wear appropriate protective clothing in order to protect
the rest of your body.
Würth assumes no liability when the helmet is used for other than the intended
purpose or when the user instructions are disregarded.
The helmet is suitable for all established welding procedures, with the exception
of laser welding. Please pay attention to the shade level recommendation on the
outer packaging.
Standby mode
The welding fi lter has an automatic switch-off function, which increases the service
life of the product. If no light falls upon the solar cells for a period of approx. 15 min.,
the welding fi lter automatically switches itself off. To reactivate the fi lter, the solar
cells must be briefl y exposed to daylight.
If the welding fi lter no longer activates or darkens when the welding arc ignites, it
must be regarded as non-functional and replaced.
Warranty & liability
Please take the warranty conditions from the directives of the national Würth
sales organisation. Please contact your Würth dealer for further information in this
connection.
Warranties are granted for material and manufacturing defects only. In the case
of damage caused by improper use, unauthorised interventions or the use of the
helmet for a purpose other than that intended by the manufacturer, the warranty and
liability are no longer valid. Likewise, liability and the warranty are no longer valid if
spare parts other than those sold by Würth are used.
Use
1. Head band Adjust upper band (1) to your head size. Depress ratchet knob (2)
and turn until the head band sits fi rmly yet comfortably.
2. Eye distance and inclination The distance between the welding fi lter and
the eyes can be optimally adjusted by loosening the locking knobs (3). The
setting should be identical on both sides to exclude tilting. After this adjustment,
retighten the locking knobs.
The helmet inclination can be adjusted via knob (4).
3. Automatic / manual operating mode The shade level setting mode can
be selected using sliding switch (5). In automatic mode, the shade level is
automatically adjusted to the intensity of the light arc via sensor technology
(standard EN 379:2003). In manual mode, the shade level can be adjusted by
turning knob (6).
It is recommended that you select the "manual" mode in the case of position
welding and pulsation welding with frequencies under 10 Hz.
4. Shade level In "manual" mode, a shade between shade level DIN 9 and DIN
13 can be selected by turning knob (6). In "automatic" mode, the shade level
complies with standard EN 379, when rotary knob (6) is at position "N". By turning
the knob the automatically set shade level can be increased or decreased by one
level depending on your sensitivity.
5. Sensitivity The ambient light sensitivity is set via sensitivity knob (7). The yellow
point on the scale corresponds to the recommended sensitivity setting for a
standard situation.
6. Delay switch The delay switch allows you to select the reaction time of the fi lter
when it changes from dark to bright. „Fast" (8) stands for a delay of 0.1-0.35s and
is recommended for short welding processes. If „slow"(9) can be seen, the delay
is increased to > 0.8s. This setting should be used for long welding processes
and pulse techniques.
Cleaning
The welding fi lter and the front cover lens must be cleaned with a soft cloth at regular
intervals. Do not use strong cleaning agents, solvents or alcohol.
Storage
The welding helmet must be stored at room temperature and low humidity.
Replacing the front cover lens
A side clip (10) is pushed in, this realeases the front cover lens which can be lifted
off. Insert new front cover lens in side clip (11). Tension front cover lens into second
side clip and snap into place. This manuevre requires some pressure to ensure that
the gasket on the front cover lens displays the desire effect.
Unmonting cartridge (12/13/14)
1. Pull shade level knob
2. Unlock satellite cover plate in direction indicated by arrow.
3. Turn bracket knobs and therefore unlock cartridge
4. Tilt cartridge out of place
5. Pull satellite carefully out of the helmet.
6. Rotate satellite by 90° and pull it through the hole of the helmet
Mounting in the reverse sequence.
