INTRODUCTION
This jacking beam has been designed to provide maximum security and economy. The careful reading of the following
instructions will permit the user to get the best performance of the unit.
The warranty of a fine operation and an easy maintenance have been the main objective in the design of the beam. If you
follow our suggestions about maintenance you will always keep the jacking beam in operation.
This is an air hydraulic lifting device to be used in pits or on four- column lifting bridges to carry out wheel alignment, brake
and suspension repairs, tyre changing etc.
The jacking beam is fitted with metal rollers and extendable mounting supports to facilitate the movement and to adjust to any
width of pit or lifting bridge.
It is also fitted with two extension adaptors to better locate under vehicle high lifting points.
Due to its sturdy construction, other rubber extensions, for example, can be placed on top of the jacking beam to suit different
user's requirements.
1
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1.1
The load to be lifted should never exceed the nominal capacity of the jacking beam.
1.2
The two-position lifting support allows for the raising of the same axle two wheels simultaneously.
These two positions of the beam should be equidistant and holding an equal load.
1.3
To carry out safely the lifting of the vehicle it is necessary that the lifting supports are placed under the lifting points
recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Check that this is correct before progressing with the operation.
1.4
Never lift both axles of the vehicle at the same time. The use of two jacking simultaneously is not permitted.
1.5
Ensure the correct air pressure is always kept and not exceeded.
1.6
Ensure there is nothing leaning against the vehicle during the lifting operation. Do not allow any element to be underneath
the vehicle when lowering the jacking beam.
1.7
Before lifting a vehicle, ensure that no persons are within the dangerous operating area.
1.8
Persons should never remain under the load while this one is in movement. They are not allowed to enter the area of
manoeuvre of the jacking beam.
1.9
It is imperative to use safety stands to support the load in case any operation is to be done underneath.
1.10
As an additional safety measure, the jacking beam is fitted with an overload valve, factory set. This valve must not be
tampered with.
1.11
This jacking beam is fitted with a safety lock to protect the operator against accidental lowering which could be caused by
break of the cylinder or unexpected hose burst.
1.12
In case the jacking beam does not operate as intended, do not repair. Disconnect the air supply and ensure it cannot be
used.
1.13
If these basic safety rules are not followed, injury to the user or damage to the vehicle or the jacking beam may result.
2
USE AND OPERATION
2.1
The jacking beam should be connected to the air supply with a hose of the same section as that of the connector nº109.
2.2
To obtain the best performance of this jacking beam, the recommended air pressure is from 100-145 psi /7-10 bar and the
minimum air flow required: 9.5 cfm / 270 l/min.
2.3
An air filter lubricator unit should be used ( fig.1). Drain the air tank daily. Water in the air line will damage the air hydraulic
pump.
2.4
Before using the jacking beam, purge the hydraulic circuit to eliminate any possible air that may have entered the system
during transport. This can be done by pushing down the control lever nº 113 and pressing the push button nº 107 for some
seconds.
2.5
To lift the jacking beam, press the push button nº 107. The jacking beam is fitted with mechanical limitation of stroke.
2.6
Before lowering the jacking beam, ensure that the safety lock mechanism nº 116 is clear. This can be checked by operating
the lever nº 117 as indicated by the arrow. Your will notice immediately if the lock is disengaged. Operate both levers nº 117
and 113 at the same time in the direction indicated by the arrows ( two-hand control ). If the lock is not clear, raise the jacking
beam a short height to disengage it. Then, proceed to lower the jacking beam as indicated.
3
MAINTENANCE
3.1
Before attempting any maintenance or part replacement disconnect the jacking beam from the air supply.
3.2
Clean and lubricate all moving parts of the jacking beam at regular intervals.
3.3
Check the oil level with the piston of the cylinder completely retracted. Refill if necessary up to the oil volume indicated in the
chart.
IMPORTANT: An excess of oil will render the jacking beam inoperative.
Use only hydraulic oil, HL or HM type, with an ISO grade of cinematic viscosity of 30 cSt at 40ºC or and Engler viscosity of 3
at 50ºC. VERY IMPORTANT: Never use brake fluid.
3.4
After use, keep the jacking beam fully lowered.
3.5
Use always original parts. The use of non-original components could damage the jacking beam and will invalidate the
warranty.
3.6
When ordering spare parts, please state the reference indicated in the chart. A repair kit is available containing all the
common spare parts.
4
REPAIR
4.1
In most of the cases, the wrong operation of the jacking beam is caused by the low pressure of the air supply, which prevents
the vehicle being lifted. Applicate therefore the recommended air pressure. Check the capacity of the air supply, the air
consumption of other elements connected to the same air supply etc.
4.2
Both maintenance and repair of this jacking beam will only be carried out by qualified persons who, on base of their education
an experience, have enough knowledge in pneumatic jacks and associated equipment.
