If you are experiencing problems with your Vivitron
500 monitor, this troubleshooting section may help
you to identify and solve any minor difficulties you
may encounter. For any display concerns, make sure
that the monitor has warmed up for approximately 45
minutes before making a final judgment.
If neither the power indicator nor the power saving
indicators are lit, check first to see that the power cord
is properly connected to both the back of the monitor
and the wall outlet. Then, check to see that the monitor
power switch is on.
If the power saving indicator is lit:
Make sure that the computer is powered up.
Check to see if the monitor recovers from sleep
mode when you press any key on the keyboard or
move the mouse.
Make sure that the video cable is properly con-
nected to both the back of the monitor and the back
of the system.
Make sure that the video cable is not damaged in
any way.
Check the video connector on the monitor signal
cable for any pins that might be bent or pushed in.
Use the monitor's self-diagnosis function to check
for any other problems. To use the self-diagnosis,
power down the monitor, then press and hold the
power switch for eight seconds. During this time,
you should see the power indicator light begin to
blink (after about five seconds), and the screen
