General method:
Cut out a patch large enough to overlap the damaged area by 30 mm on all sides.
Place the overlapping patch in the centre of the damaged spot and draw around the patch with a pencil.
Scour/roughen the back of the patch and the damaged area on the outer skin of the SUP with a sheet of
sandpaper.
(Scouring: remove blemishes from the patch and the area around the leak. Use sandpaper to roughen this area
evenly, but not too deeply. Do not expose the fabric fibres.)
Use a solvent to clean the patch and the area around the leak.
Apply two thin circular layers of adhesive to the rear of the patch and the damaged area on the SUP using a
short-bristled brush. Allow the first layer to dry completely (app. 15 minutes) before adding the second layer.
The second layer should dry until sticky to the touch. Then place the patch on the damaged area and firmly
secure. If air bubbles are trapped underneath the patch, use a smooth object (the back of a spoon is ideal) to
remove these. Work your way from the centre of the patch outwards.
Wait 24 hours before inflating the SUP.
Leak repairs
Required materials: soapy water, brush, stylus and piercer (both blunt-tipped), PVC (0.9 mm thick), adhesive, MEK
(cleaning agent), cotton cloth.
Small leak in SUP
Slightly inflate the SUP until it starts to expel air. Apply soapy water to the area where you suspect damage until you see
bubbles created by escaping air.
Small leak: dip the tip of a stylus or (blunt) piercer in adhesive and insert into the puncture 3 or 4 times in order
to completely fill the puncture with liquid adhesive. Wait 15 minutes for adhesive to dry. Deflate the SUP.
Larger leaks: cut a round PVC patch to size, big enough to cover the leak.
Clean the back of the patch and the area around the larger leak with MEK. Use a stylus to evenly spread the
adhesive onto both surfaces (first adhesive layer). Wait 15-20 minutes.
Use the stylus to again apply adhesive to both surfaces (second adhesive layer) and wait another 15-20
minutes. Apply the patch with its layers of adhesive by gently placing it on the leak. Firmly apply rolling pressure
or rub with a blunt metal object until securely adhered.
The repair must be left to dry for at least 24 hours with the SUP inflated to 20% of the recommended pressure.
Please note
After repair, the patched air chamber must be left to set for at least 24 hours with the SUP inflated to 20% of the
recommended pressure. If the SUP is fully inflated or used to soon, the patch might not adhere properly.
If you experience any problems, please request the advice of your nearest distributor.
Storage
After each use, the SUP and all associated parts must be cleaned with a mild soap solution and rinsed with
fresh water. Let all parts dry properly before packing into the carry bag. This will prevent stains resulting from
damp or mildew.
To keep the SUP looking good, it must be stored in a cool and dry place and must be shielded from direct
sunlight.
Do not keep the SUP in its supplied carry bag/backpack if stored for a long period of time. When inside the
backpack, the SUP is folded together tightly. This will result in severe creasing of the fabric.
Store the SUP in a dry place, either laid out flat or loosely rolled or folded.
To prevent damage to the SUP during storage, do no place any heavy items on top of it.
Do not bend the fixed fins on the underside of the SUP during storage. Under certain circumstances, it may not
be possible to return them to their original shape.
To avoid discolouration of the outer skin of the SUP resulting from fouling or polluted water, DO NOT leave the
SUP in water for long periods of time.
