Replacing the batteries:
Open the cover of the compartment located on the handle of the thermometer
and insert two AAA batteries. Close the cover once the battery has been intro-
duced. Carry out this task when the battery has run out or when the low battery
symbol appears on the LCD screen (11).
Error messages:
When you take a temperature reading using this thermometer one of two error
messages shown below may appear:
"Hi" (High) indicates that the average value surpasses the maximum value of
the range of readings. If the Body Temp mode is selected it indicates
that the temperature is higher than 42.9ºC. Otherwise, if
Surface/object mode is selected the device is indicating that the tem-
perature is higher than 100ºC.
"Lu" (Low) indicates that the average value is lower than the maxi -
mum value of the range of readings. If the Body Temp mode is se -
lected it indicates that the temperature is lower than 32ºC.
Otherwise, if Surface/object mode is selected the device is indicating that the
temperature is higher than 0ºC.
Occasionally the surface temperature that is being measured is not really
found outside the range of temperatures but the thermometer interprets it as
such and one of the above error messages is shown. Below some of the reasons
for this and how to solve them are shown:
CAUSE
Too much distance between the
thermometer and the surface.
There has been a sudden
change in temperature on the
thermometer.
SOLUTION
Take the reading again respecting the
reading distance (5-8cm).
Leave the thermometer in the room
where the reading is to be taken for
around 30 minutes so it can acclimatise
and take the temperature again.
