User manual - RXFOT1DCSS
4. Instructions for use
The optical leg attenuation allowed to the system must be between 16 and 21dB optical.
Refer to the technical characteristics of the passive components that make up the distribution to calculate
the leg attenuation. The receiver guarantees an adequate TV and SAT signal level at the outputs if the at-
tenuation of the leg between the transmitter and the receiver is 16 ÷ 21 dB and the RF signal input to the
TXFOT1SWB complies with the indications given in the transmitter manual.
CAUTION:
- Direct connections betweenTXFOT1SWB and RXFOT1SWB/RXFOT1DCSS are not allowed, unless appro-
priate optical line attenuators are used.
- It is essential to use an optical signal meter to check the input optical level at the receiver and avoid dama-
ging the receiver photodiode (it may be damaged if the input signal is more than 3 dBm).
4.1 Output Levels to the Optical SAT Receiver
The SAT power on the output of RXFOT1DCSS receiver is about 85 dBμV in dSCR (SCR+dCSS) mode, if the
optical input level of the receiver and the correct sizing of the attenuation of the leg is observed.
TV(DVB-T/DVB-T2)
The TV level output from RXFOT1DCSS optical receivers depends on the number of channels transmitted by
the transmitter and the optical attenuation of the leg. Keep in mind that 1dB of optical loss is equivalent to 2
dB of attenuation to the electrical (RF) level.
The following are some reference levels of TV(DVB-/CATV) signals output at the receiver: The total output
power is -18 dBm with 21 dB optical attenuation, so the fewer multiplexes transmitted, the higher the output
level and quality.
