FLX - Translation of the original instructions

1. GENERAL SAFETY REGULATIONS

To install the product correctly and ensure its safe use, read the contents of this manual with care before carrying out any procedure.
Keep this manual in a clean, easily accessible place.
Installation operations must be carried out by skilled technical staff.
Never tamper with the product in any way to modify its performance or operating characteristics. Not only will you forfeit your warranty cover, but
you will also be completely liable for any accidents or damage occurring during use of the unit.
Never swallow the product or any of its parts.
Since the product may be used in wastewater pits and septic tanks which may contain toxic gases, take the following precautions:
NEVER work alone when performing any maintenance procedures:
ENSURE that pits are properly ventilated before starting work.
the people who descend into pits must be connected to safety ropes and must be able to re-ascend quickly in the event of an emergency.
Keep out of the reach of children; this product is not suitable for unskilled or incompetent persons.
Wear suitable clothing when handling the product, especially if it has previously been installed: safety footwear, goggles and gloves and a
leather apron or similar protection.
Whenever maintenance or repair work is performed on an electric pump or accessories after installation, especially if they are submerged in
biological or hazardous liquids, clean all parts thoroughly and wash with plenty of water or specific products.
2. DESCRIPTION OF THE VALVE
The FLX flushing valve is an accessory that automatically generates an adjustable-direction jet of water inside the pit whenever the pump is
EN
restarted, to move the solids around and allow them to be drawn in easily by the pump.
Constructed in cast iron, it can be installed directly on the pump casing or pipeline by means of a threaded coupling.
This type of valve operates on the "Venturi" principle and does not require an electricity supply.
A regulator allows the valve closure time to be set between 10 and 400 seconds, depending on pit size or the amount of sediment to be shifted,
the pump power or the system working point.
3. INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING THE FLX VALVE ON THE PUMP
Before starting any installation procedure, check that the product is intact and free from damage.
Each individual valve undergoes hydraulic testing as the final stage in the production process, so a little water may have been left in the valve body.
This is normal and will not interfere with the normal operation of the FLX valve.
Check that the pump's performance rating is suitable for use of the FLX valve and that its point of use complies with the operating specifications
provided.
The FLX valve can be installed in 2 ways:
using a GAS 1 ½" threaded connection for installation on the pump body or on the pipeline itself.
using a diamond-shaped flange, which also allows the valve to be installed on competitors' electric pumps.
Decide which mounting system is best suited to your installation and the fitting provided on the electric pump.
To fix the FLX valve using the GAS threaded connection, proceed as follows:
fit the two M10 x30 TE bolts into the flange, facing outwards (FIG.1 A-B).
fit the flange onto the hole in the pump body, screwing it on clockwise until firmly fixed and ensuring that the holes on the flange are vertical
(FIG. 2 A-B).
Hemp or Loctite thread sealant should be applied to the threaded part before fitting to prevent leaks and hold the valve firmly vertical when in
operation.
Fit the valve body onto the flange already assembled with the two M10 bolts and their nuts, taking care to keep the O-ring on the flange in place.
Tighten the two fixing bolts using their nuts (FIG. 3 A-B).
To fix the FLX valve using an additional flange, proceed as follows:
Fit the valve body onto the fitting provided on the pump body using the two M10x30 bolts, taking care to keep the O-ring on the flange in place.
Tighten the two fixing bolts so that the FLX valve is firmly connected to the pump body (FIG. 4 A-B).
Take special care when fitting on small electric pumps, since the weight of the valve may render the pump unstable.
4. PLACING THE ASSEMBLY IN THE PIT
The electric pump with FLX valve can be installed using a DAC (bottom mounting device) to allow easy pump handling, or fixed installation is also
possible.
If a DAC device is used, take care that the weight of the valve combined with the thrust of the jet of water does not push the pump off balance,
uncoupling it and causing a loss of performance.
Never use the curve provided to point the jet of the FLX valve downward or upward; it must always be directed so that whirlpool turbulence is
generated inside the pit (FIG. 5).
Before proceeding with installation of the pump, check that the electrical connection is correct, and also check the other points detailed in its
operator's manual.
Then check and start the valve by hand as described below:
Gradually press against the diaphragm shown in FIG. 6 with one hand until liquid its transferred from one tank to the other. Do not use pointed or
sharp objects which might damage the diaphragm. There is no need to press hard; simply maintain a constant pressure to drive the liquid through
the regulator valve.
This operation will only be required at first start-up, to ensure that all the air is vented from the flushing valve through the breather shown in FIG. 7.
Lower the pump-FLX valve assembly into the pit by sliding the DAC mounting device coupling flange along the guide pipes and check that the
electric pump fits perfectly into place.
In case of fixed installation, insert the pump-FLX valve assembly until the base of the pump rests on the bottom of the tank, and make the hydraulic
connection between the pump and the system.
The next step is the venting operation described above.
In both cases, the threaded curve on the FLX outlet has to be directed so that whirlpool turbulence is created inside the pit (FIG. 8).
If 2 or more pumps are installed, the jet must never be pointed at another pump as it might cause cavitation problems.
The electric pump with flushing valve on the outside of the group of pumps should therefore be installed with the valve pointing towards the sides
