- Only elements conforming to the EN
362 and EN 795 standards can be used
(connectors, lanyards, slings, etc.).
- The fall arrester must not, in any case,
pertain to an element of the structure, it
must be in alignment with the anchorage
and the hooking point on the harness of
the user.
- If the fall arrester is compatible with the
factor 2 use configuration, the user can
go above the hooking point of the device.
However, in case of a fall, the stopping
distance and the maximum force will be
greater. In this configuration of use, the
associated clearance is thus greater (#7).
- IMPORTANT: never leave the lanyard or
connector to rewind the lanyard but guide
them until they are completely wound up.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF USE
- When mixing the fall prevention system
with other safety components, check the
compatibility of each of the components
and ensure the application of all the
recommendations of the product manuals
and applicable standards relating to the fall
prevention system. In particular, ensure
that the security function of one component
is not affected by the security function of
another component and that they do not
interfere with each other.
- Before each use of a fall prevention
system, it is imperative to check the free
space (vertical clearance) required under
the user, so that in the event of a fall, there
is no collision with the ground nor with a
fixed or moving obstacle in the path (#7).
- The vertical clearance (#7) is calculated
from the results obtained in regulatory
tests, described in the EN355 and EN360
standards, to which it is recommended to
add a safety distance of 1m. The tests are
carried out with a maximum rated load
claimed at 100kg or 140kg.
- Remember that in a fall prevention system,
only an EN361 fall prevention harness can
be used for retaining the body.
- The anchor point on the structure where
the fall prevention system will be fixed
must be above the user, at a reduced
distance and must also meet the minimum
resistance
requirements
standard EN795: 2012 (R ≥ 1200 daN).
Avoid deviating too far from the balance of
this anchorage in order to limit the extent
of a possible pendulum fall.
TRANSPORT / PACKAGING / STORAGE
- Transport in packaging and protected
from shocks or pressures due to the
environment.
- Use a waterproof, rot-proof protective
packaging
-
temperatures below -30°C or above +50°C.
- The product must be stored in a dry and
ventilated place, away from any source of
direct or indirect heat, and ultraviolet. The
drying of wet equipment must be carried
out under the same conditions.
MAINTENANCE
- Cleaning and disinfection: exclusively with
water and neutral soap.
- Any modification or repair of the product
is prohibited.
- The equipment will be put back into service
only with a written agreement from the
manufacturer or the repair centre.
- If the equipment has sustained a fall, it
must be destroyed. In the special case of
KTP EVO 9, when the device has stopped
a fall, its servicing is mandatory. It must
be immediately removed from circulation.
Its reuse is only possible if a competent
person authorises it in writing.
LIFESPAN
- PPE against falls is designed for
long years of operation under normal
conditions of use and maintenance. The
lifespan depends on the usage.
-
environments, salty, siliceous, chemical,
can reduce the lifespan of PPE. In these
cases, special attention must be paid to
protection and controls before use.
- The indicative lifespan of the products
recommended by the person responsible
for marketing is 10 (ten) years.
