6. Place the sleeve and sleeve plate on the forcing screw from the
outboard side as shown in image #3. Put the last washer on the
forcing screw and thread on the long forcing nut, image #4.
7. Use your impact tool and socket, tighten the forcing screw while
holding the forcing nut stationary with a wrench. The use of a light
penetrating oil applied between the inner diameter of the steering
knuckle and the outer diameter of the bearing may reduce the
amount of force necessary.
8. Continue turning the forcing screw until the bearing reaches the
adapter plate at the end of the sleeve. The bearing should be clear
of the inner diameter of the knuckle.
9. Disassemble the forcing screw, washers, forcing nut,
and adapter plates holding the bearing.
BEARING INSTALLATION
1. Select the adapter plate that best fits flat over the inboard diameter
of the knuckle without entering the inner bore. Assemble the adapter
plate and washer to the forcing screw as shown in image #5.
2. Assembly with the head of the forcing screw facing the inboard
side of the knuckle, placing the new bearing against the bore on
the outboard side of the knuckle.
3. Select an adapter plate that matches the size or is slightly smaller
than the bearing. One that will fit inside the bore without touching
the walls. Assemble the adapter plate, washer, and forcing nut to
the forcing screw, as shown in image #6.
4. Use your impact tool and socket to tighten the forcing
screw while holding the forcing nut stationary with a
wrench. Light penetrating oil applied to the bore of the
inboard side of the steering knuckle may be helpful in
reducing the amount of force necessary.
5. Continue turning the forcing screw until the bearing is
completely seated inside the knuckle. Remove the
forcing screw and adapter assembly.
6. To complete the installation, reverse vehicle
preparation instructions.
